The Head Prefect,
Form 5 Budiman,
SMK Jalan Tiga,

Professor Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore,
The Principal,
SMK Jalan Tiga,
43650 Bandar Baru Bangi,
Selangor.

Dear Sir,
UNSATISFACTORY CONDITIONS AND SERVICES AT THE CANTEEN
On behalf of the students of SMK Jalan Tiga and as Head Prefect of the school, I would like to lodge a complaint about the reference of the above.
2. First and foremost, the cleanliness of the canteen is found wanting. The premises are filthy. The workers do not clear the garbage can and rubbish daily. This is very unhygienic and unsanitary. As a result, there is a foul stench whenever we eat in the canteen.

3. Furthermore, The utensils are not clean enough to be used when eating. The spoon, forks and plates are oily and not washed properly. The pots and pans that are used to cook the food are dirty, soiled and stained. The utensils are also inadequate. Because of the inadequacy of the utensils, some of the students had to eat with their bear hands.

4. Moreover, the canteen also serves junk food. Selling unhealthy foods is not the wisest choice for a snack since there are many drawbacks and few nutritional benefits. Students purchasing these junk foods can become overweight and hyper. The canteen workers should stop selling junk food to the students and serve healthy food instead.

5. Apart from that, the food is also too expensive. A small plate of fried mee costs RM1.50 and many impecunious students cannot afford it. Besides that, the canteen serves the same menu daily. The students are tired with fried rice and fried mee every day.

6. Thus, I would like to recommend that the school authorities conduct stringent checks on the canteen daily or weekly. They should also ensure that the canteen serves a variety of healthy food. Besides that, the school authorities should provide guidelines to the canteen workers. Another suggestion is that they should always

Although some students might say they enjoy the hot pizza served everyday, one cannot argue the amount of dripping grease coming off the slice. Coming to the conclusion that those who enjoy it might not be too concerned about their health. And it is obvious to say that foods like that are not at all healthy. Bringing lunch from home however, one can always put together a quality meal. Adding healthy options like cut fruits and vegetables that the school does not offer. It is logical to say that food made in cafeterias is strictly made for the amount of convenience instead of quality.…

The Food Court alone is packed full of unhealthy yet appealing options such as Wendy’s, Pizza Hut, Chinese food and Quiznos. Aside from the food court, there are also several coffee shops offering pastries and small hut-like stands offering energy drinks and candy bars for those on the go. For the students that reside on the campus, as well as any others who decide pay the absurd fee, can eat in the dining hall which offers more nutritional food options, as well as the food being freshly made. In order for students to perform well in class, the body needs certain nutrients, which the current dining options on campus to not provide conveniently or economically. “Relations are what matter most, and the health of the cultivated turns on the health of the wild” (Pollan 292). This quote derived from Michael Pollan’s essay on Polyface farms illustrates that the junk food people in today’s society are ingesting is not only negatively affecting one’s own health and those around them, but the animals we are ingesting as well. Pollan displays how everything eventually in one way or another ends up in a cycle. So if we are buying incredibly cheap processed food, our livestock is eating even more…

Teachers can encourage students to bring healthy snacks and lunch to school. To promote this, the teacher can create programs to ensure students are eating healthy nutritious foods whilst at school. An example, allocating particular days to a particular healthy snack such as, on Fridays we will bring fruit for ‘Fruit Friday’. Each child will then bring their desired piece of fruit that day, or ‘Yoghurt Tuesday”. This could be a fun way of encouraging students to bring healthy foods in their lunchboxes. Rewarding children when they eat healthy encourages them also, to continue with these healthy eating habits. The teacher could make a rule that if everyone has their fruit on Friday or yoghurt on Tuesday, they can be rewarded with an activity they enjoy, involving physical movements, for 15mins afterwards as their reward. Teachers can also help to encourage healthy foods in canteens and tuckshops. Replacing foods and drinks which are high in sugar, fatty, unhealthy and have no nutritional value such as chips, soft drink, pastries, lollies with foods low in sugar, less fat and have more nutritional value like, milk, yoghurt, fruit, vegetables and fish. This can help with children’s diet and health. “School canteens can be a major source of food for children and young people. Canteens that only sell healthy and nutritious food encourage good eating habits and can improve the diet of…

School campus lunch is disgusting because it is all slobbery and it is not made homemade. It is not even fresh! The food is so bitter from coming from the freezer and when you take a bite, it feels hard like a rock where it just can break your teeth. The food is so bland it does not taste like anything and one time I found a piece of hair on my food that was obviously not mine. The food is so fake to the point where it is not even made properly. The hamburgers are literally deformed. The food is really hot from overheating it and then students burn their mouth which is so painful! School lunch is really intriguing since foreign objects are found. The Summit staff must think we are animals to eat this kind of food.School lunch is a controversial…
