This week in the field was exciting and provided me the opportunity to spend more time out of the office with my supervisor. On Monday, I was continued completing case files; copying court orders, medical information, and parent information etc. from client’s county files and placing these copies of the information into an IFCCS file. During this task, I discovered how different organizations complete assessments when discussing client’s treatment plans and determining his/her psychological state. Therefore, I was able to continue strengthening my competency skill 10. Completing this task has helped me understand the professional writing and documentation required for writing treatment plans that document medical necessities of services. She explained this meeting was held to discuss her meetings with the client, the clients living conditions in their foster home, and how her and the board team could work together to develop the necessary actions for enrolling the client back in school so they can finish their grade school education. After discussing this board meeting with my supervisor, I realized competency skill 8 applicable to this task. This is that she mentioned certain policies, such as the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), would affect the decisions made about the clients. Therefore, I was able to understand how policy affects practice and how social workers should take policies into consideration when making ethical decisions. After discussing her meeting with the Foster Care Review Board, my supervisor informed me that a decision was still in the process of being made but that the client would continue living in their current foster home until further
