We get information from reading books. Without them we wouldn’t get any information or learn new words. Without books we wouldn’t know what happened back then or read autobiographies of what was happening during Slavery, Holocaust, WWI, WWII, and many more historical events that occurred long ago. Books need comprehension to along with basic reading, it because if we try to just read it, it wouldn't make sense to us. When Montag asked Faber for help on bringing books back to bring back life to people in his world, Faber tells him they need more than just understanding. “Number one: Quality of information. Number two: leisure to digest it. Number three: the right to carry out actions based on what we learn from the interaction of the first two”(Bradbury Pg 85). What Faber is saying is that in order for the people to understand books, they need to have those three things first, because without them they won't be able to understand the book at all. This text shows how these three things are very important and really need to be used to understand the books that they want to read. Comprehension helps us better understand what we are reading and how we read it to get a better understanding.
