A multi-professional team is needed for a holistic and comprehensive approach to health care to come into being. (Legg, Duncan & Mitchell, n.d.:59) In this essay I am going to outline comprehensive care and describe my profession specific role. I will discuss how my profession specific role fits into comprehensive care. Furthermore, I will describe my thoughts and feelings related to my profession specific role, as well as how these may impact my future behaviour as an Integrated Health Professional (IHP). Lastly, I will describe my professional development in terms of the knowledge, empathy and reflection dimensions.
Comprehensive care
Comprehensive health care is not only disease-orientated. In this approach health professional do not wait for patients to become sick and then cure them, rather there is focused placed on promoting health, preventing disease and rehabilitating people after illness or injury. In …show more content…
In this essay I outlined comprehensive care, namely its components of health promotion, disease prevention, palliation, protection from harm and rehabilitation. I described audiologist specific role and how I fits into comprehensive care. Stating that audiologist play a large role in health promotion, preventing hearing loss and in rehabilitation. Furthermore, I described my thoughts and feelings related to audiologists’ role with in comprehensive care, as well as how these may impact my future behaviour. Expressing that I feel sad and think it unfair that financial constraints keep patients from having an improved quality of life and that I should take part in raising money for equipment. Lastly, will described my professional development in terms of the dimensions of the IHP. Stating that I should always be expanding my knowledge and stay up to date with the best practise
