FOREWORD
The series of publication entitled “Comprehensive Industry Document Series” (COINS) is designed to cover the status of each specific type of Industry in the country incorporating all environmental issues to facilitate concerned units in the Sector to improve their environmental performance and attain compliance with the National Environmental Standards. The Comprehensive Industry Document on Stone Crushers is latest among Central Pollution Control Board publication in the above series with the main objective of this to impart an overall view of Stone Crushers operating in the country, to develop the National Environmental Standards, to provide cleaner technologies and to specify Guidelines / Code of Practice for Pollution Prevention & Control. The Report has been finalized after a series of discussion with the industry representatives, industry associations, State Pollution Control Boards and other statutory bodies associated with the Stone Crushing Sector. Central Pollution Control Board conceived the study on MoU basis with, National Productivity Council (NPC), New Delhi. The assistance rendered by the State Pollution Control Boards, the Stone Crushing Units and their Association during the Study is gratefully acknowledged. I commend the efforts engrossed by Shri R. C. Kataria, Senior Environmental Engineer for co-ordinating the study / finalizing this document under the guidance of Shri J. S. Kamyotra, Member Secretary, CPCB and Dr. B.
