Re: Purchase of new computers
Three of the desktop computers that are currently being used by our clerical workers are getting to the point where they are slow, have reached internal storage capacity and are generally out of date. To continue to be competitive in the marketplace they will need to be replaced. These three computers all have internal hard disks with 50GB of storage capacity or less, have processors running at speeds of less than 2GHz, have less than 2GB of RAM, have CD drives, and n more than 2 USB ports. I want each to have at least 100GB of storage capacity, run at speeds of more than 2GHz, have at least 3GB of RAM, have at least one of the laptops with a DVD drive, and at least 3 USB ports each. I would also like our new computers to all have a Windows 7 operating system and to have some sort of built-in memory card reader. There have been several instances where it would have been helpful if these clerical workers were onsite with clients so I recommend replacing these three desktops with laptops. These three laptops will still be connected to our local network but done so wirelessly. I have done some research and here are my purchase recommendations: * Windows 7 Home PremiumOperating System * 2.4GHz Intel i3 Dual-Core CPU * 6GB of RAM * 500GB Hard Drive | * 8x DVDRW Drive * N 2230 WLAN * 3 USB 2.0 Ports * 8-in-1 Memory Card Reader |
1 – Dell Inspiron 15R with 15.6” screen - $469.99 * This laptop meets all of the require criteria. Its specifications are considered fairly basic these days but I think the price can’t be beat.
