An ecological footprint analysis is a way to calculate based on the natural resources available. Simply put, ecological footprint is all about how much natural resources people, countries, economies, or the world are using. In another word, the ecological footprint is the humans demand on the earth and the capacity of the earth to regenerate the recourses that we use. .
Concept of Carrying Capacity
Carrying Capacity of any specific area or region is what is the maximum population in size that can be that the area can support for a large period of time with respect to the other species that also live there and with respect to the natural recourses of that area but mostly with respect to the food available for the specific specie. If we continue at this rate at the end we will need more area to survive, but we don’t have another earth that we can use.
Concept of Overshoot
Overshooting occurs when a population exceeds the long term carrying capacity of its environment. It may have as a result for the specie to become extinct or need to move to a different area to keep on living. Basically is when a specie moves in an area and uses up all the resources too fast and doesn’t leave the area the ability to re-new the sources available, that is what we are doing now as the human race to the earth we are using its recourses too fast and don’t leave the ability to re-new the resources that we have used.
