All Deck Crew were called to heli lounge for briefing and video training on the important issues to be followed around Confined spaces. Training session was arranged in order to provide the crew with the knowledge, skills and understanding to effectively carry out their duties and responsibilities for entry into enclosed or confined spaces.
The crew were explained what potential hazards could be faced when entering into confined space and how to identify them. Dr. emphasized on how quickly the rescue needs to happen, as the body will die without oxygen in 4 minutes. The explanation of CPR procedures was explained.
The importance of findings of the risk assessment, PTW, appropriate control measures were highlighted, which includes: proper ventilation, isolation, initial gas test and further gas testing in regular intervals, arranging of rescue equipment, stand by person, adequate lighting, recording of time of those in the space, means of possible ingress of gas and liquids, use of BA sets and resuscitator and first aid techniques which might be needed for evacuation of casualty.
Q&A session followed, points needing clarification were discussed, explained further and positive reinforcements done.
Stated the importance of
Emergency rescue team response at site and also provision for supplied Breathing air to be available in the Confined Space.
