Conflict In Lord Of The Flies Essay

In the book, Lord Of The Flies, by Ray Bradbury, he wrote about characters who turned “evil”, and who go behind each others backs a kill. The setting is on a island in the middle of nowhere. The main characters are Jack, and Ralph. They do not get along very well. Ralph follows the rules, and Jack likes to break them. Conflicts occur in the novel when Ralph becomes leader, and Jack doesn't think they should have a leader, or rules. Jack thinks they should be able to do what they want when they want because there are no grownups there to tell him what to do. Ralph thinks they need rules to survive. In the book when the boys first get to the island, they are scared and confused. As the story goes on, the boys start to act out, they get more aggressive. There are more arguments and fights. Then the boys decide to break off from the main group, and Ralph, Piggy, Sam, and Eric are in one group, and all of the others are in Jack's group. Jacks group
The boys being alone on an island with no adults, and no rules made them feel like they could do whatever they wanted. “We are told that the little boy was lead out of a shopping center by two older boys. They beat him to death, and then put his body on train tracks, so the train would cover up his injuries.” To me, from what is told in the story, the boys were not in a bad situation. The boys just feel the need to hurt someone, so they chose someone who could not defend themselves. They gave into their feelings of anger and aggression, and they killed an innocent child. There environment was not bad. This showed that the environment of the person does not always have to do with there actions. They could have amazing parents, but there is just something wrong with there minds. Their parents could have tried to help them in anyway possible, but sometimes the help they get just doesn't
