4. I agree with some of this assessment. I know that in the past I have had some difficulty with conflict and conflict resolution in the work place. At a previous job, there were some issues with a supervisor who apparently had personal issues with me. She would often times create situations that would insight some sort of conflict. Initially I tried to avoid any confrontations with her and when she saw that I would not engage, she began to find other ways to antagonize me. I typically do not like conflict. 1. This purpose of this assessment is to help understand how an organization’s structure influences my personal needs and values.
2. My score: Tall Hierarchy (10), Formalization (11), Centralization (10), Total (Mechanistic Score) = 31
3. According to this assessment of the three organizational structure dimensions my scores for tall hierarchy, formalization, and centralization were all medium. My overall score, the mechanistic score was high. The assessment states that persons with high mechanistic scores prefer few employees per supervisor and a high degree of formalization and centralization.
4. I am not absolutely sure that this assessment is correct. I believe that there are aspects of the mechanistic structure that I do prefer. I like to know that the organization I work for has a structure that allows all employees to have a clear understanding of their job description, an understanding of the level of autonomy, if it applies, and an understanding of protocol regarding who we are to report
