It was the tennis state championship final and he winner would go on to play in the national championships and if we won this match we would have gone through. My opponent and I had gone undefeated to this point and the winner would go through. I was very nervous before the game, I hadn’t seen him play yet and I didn’t know what to expect. We walked on the court and started warming up and I was surprised, he was not as good as I thought he was going to be. I won the toss and I served.
I won the first game comfortably and also the second game and he was getting frustrated. Then I served the ball that clearly hit the line and it aced him, then he called it out. I asked him if he was sure that it was out, he said yes. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and did not argue any further. But then again later in the game I hit a winner that was clearly in which he called it out and he won that game from that. I could not see exactly where it landed so I could not argue with his call. Then he won the next game aswell. He kept making bad calls and he won the next 3 games so that left the scores at 5 games to 2 games his way and I was getting frustrated at him cheating, but I decided to forget about and just do my best to win this match playing fairly. A match that you have won fairly is much better than winning if you have cheated to do so.
In this game it was his serve and I was up 15-40, he was getting very angry. He served the ball and I smashed it back at him and won the game. I was beginning to make my comeback and I won the next game aswell. This meant the scores were 4 games to 5 games in his favour. The first point I hit the ball and he missed it and I had started to celebrate when he called it out, I was sure that it landed in, so I questioned him and he insisted that it landed out. I was not allowed to argue with his call. I was disappointed that he thought he had to cheat to win a game of tennis. I just wanted to play a fair game of tennis. I did comeback and win the game and the one after that despite some more of his attempts to cheat. This left the scores at 6 games to 5 games with me in the lead. All I needed to do was win just one more game and I would go through and play in the national championships.
The scores of this game was deuce, then I won the next point and it was my advantage and match point. I felt the adrenalin rush through my body, he served the ball and I saw it falling short so I ran forward to get to the ball as quickly as I could and I just reached the ball and played a beautiful shot which he could not return, I threw my fist up in the air to celebrate the victory. But my celebrations were cut short when he claimed that I did not get the ball before it bounced a second time which meant he won the point he then went on to win the game. Which meant the scores were 6 games to 6 games and we had to play a tiebreak game to determine the winner. The first person to 7 points would win. Every time one of us scored a point the other would win the next one, the scores of the tiebreak game were 5 to 5 and then he won the next point. Which meant he had to win this point to win the match. He served the ball, which bounced in the middle of the service square and aced him. He had won the match. It wasn’t a good feeling knowing that he had to cheat to win the match. I do not know why people believe that they have to cheat in a game jut to win; it is not all about winning. It is about having fun, playing fairly and trying your best. I went on to shake his hand at the end of the match knowing I had done the right thing. I was more disappointed that he needed to cheat to win the match than I was losing the match.

When the first game came I was extremely happy yet nervous also. We ended up winning the game by the score of three runs to two although I did not get to bat at all and was put in only for two innings of defense. I was disappointed that I did not get to play much but I was happy with the win. Our second game was the next day and I hoped to get more playing time then. When that day came it turned out that we were playing an extremely skilled team. We were losing three to one in the last inning and I still hadn’t played at all the whole game. One of my friends hit a double and then another one of my teammates hit a single to knock him in to score. The score was now three to two and we had a chance to come back. My coach then decided that we needed someone faster on the bases so he called for a…

We had made it clear to each other that he would not go unavenged. We had enough passion to fight the world if we felt absolutely necessary and we went on through what seemed like a war that weekend. Through blood, sweat, and injury, we battled for that title. The championship match came in our grasps and tensions were high for the entire game since we didn't only want to win for us, but for our coach who had recently resigned. After a game full of devastating hits and elaborate set plays, we lost after an undefeated run of 5-0-0, but we fought to the death and left it all out on the field. No regret in our heads would ever go opposite the way we played in that title match because Coach Day had educated us all that no matter how exceptionally skilled at something you believe you are, you will never progress without putting your entire willpower to the task. Without passion, you fight for nothing. Passion is what will drive you through every hill and valley of your life. From that day onward, all I have done has been for a reason and I have strong-armed my way through thick and thin to be successful in my life and I plan to extend this through my entire college career and lifetime. I will at no time give up on what I believe is crucial, similar to being successful in that tournament for my…

I have experienced many failures in my life but one stuck out to me more than others. I have wrestled since I was 8 years old. Through all my matches I have wrestled in my life, something hit me. My sophomore year I worked really hard to make it to the state tournament. Going into the sectional tournament, my record was 19-3. I had a by the first round which put me in the semi-finals. After winning my semi-finals match 12-4, that put me in the finals against a kid I wrestled 3 times before this. He pinned me the first time we wrestled and the next 2 times we wrestled I pinned him. Going into this match I had a lot of confidence because I knew I could win. I underestimated the want he had to win. He surprised me and came out strong. My sectional…

“Conflict theory shows how major patterns of inequality in society produce social stability in some circumstances and social change in orders” (Brym, Roberts, Strohschen, lie 2015:18). I would use conflict theory to explain women running for office in this campaign and why men are more than women in terms of election in different parties. Research and theory associated with studying gender issues propelled the sociology of gender from the margins to become a central feature of the discipline ( Why is it that there are more men involved in elections compare to women? Women have to be given the chance to compete in the election, showing sign of equality amongst men and women which is the fundamental principals of human rights and…

“It’s certainly accepted as part of the culture that you game the system as much as you possibly can, and if you don’t get caught, it ain’t cheating,” said Stephen Mosher, a professor at Ithaca College who studies sports ethics. Many professional players explore gamesmanship,if not secretly, blatantly and it is sometimes brushed off as harmless and acceptable. Then there are times that strategies are genuinely cheating and despicable. Many people argue that gamesmanship corresponds with cheating, and that other people identify both as two different entities. I classify gamesmanship as its own creature, but share a symbiotic relationship with cheating. Gamesmanship relies on the knowledge of the rules and sometimes dipping its feet into the…

Back in 7th grade I was trying out for the tennis team and I was fairly good at tennis so I knew I would make the team. We had to find a partner to try out with. I was new to the school and therefore did not know anyone in particular at the school, so while I was looking for a partner I came across another kid who was also new to this school. Now I had seen this kid play and he was no Federer, so obviously most people didn’t want him as a partner, I could’ve gone with someone else at that point and I would’ve had a great season ahead of me because I would’ve surely made the team with someone else as my partner. But I decided that if I wouldn’t be his partner then no one would, so I walked up to him and partnered up.…

My old coach, Ms. Rory, didn’t give me the proper elements to do during the solo. When you skate a solo, it is like making a cake. The skater, need to bring the right ingredients that are required. For my level, I needed 3 jumps, 1 spin, and our dance step sequence (it is different for every level). I didn’t have any of the right element, so when the cake was baked, this is when the judges were scoring, I didn’t do very well. My cake was nasty, and I was bitter. When a teammate was watching, she told her mom that I wasn’t doing the right things. Her mom brought it up to my mom, and my mom told me. My mom still wanted to me enter my solo in my next competition, and I did, the team got 1st place which was awesome, my interp got 2nd place and my solo got…

People might think that the referee is wrong, but here are my reasons on how they are right? First of all, the referee is right because in games like Cricket, Soccer etc. Players from teams all around the world will argue with the Referee, this meaning that the Referee has the right to kick them off the field for arguing. Also, the referee is correct because mainly with Basketball and Soccer, they start to have fights when lets say in Basketball someone might trip, push, etc. This meaning other players from both teams start to get up and try to pick a fight, same goes with Soccer, the Referee has to get in between both of the teams sometimes getting hurt but they still have to stop the fight that is happening.…

But still then they couldn't get an advantage, So minutes later one of their kids came up to me and said “ you're so fu*&$#ng ugly , and keep in my mind my family used to own you”, and at first I thought that I disregarded that comment, but I made a crucial error in the windup of the game which costed my team the victory. At the end of the game, I confronted this kid and in doing so I received a red card and was suspended for our 2nd to last game , and all i did was call him and idiot and threw the “F” word out there . But, right after I reacted, I regretted this because I knew that I had just lowered myself down to his level and made a fool of myself .Ironically this kid was my greatest success story, he helped me understand that there is a lot more to the game of soccer than just having fun and winning. Concerning to my attitude to fair or cheating behavior I may say that I never cheated on someone. Our trainer used to tell us that you are the only person whom you cheat. I was quite skillful and had a strong body as well as spirit. But one day everything was shattered in a moment. It was Moscow championship, semi-final. I was a favorite and was leading that fight by points. But one awkward movement and my arm was broken. At first I didn't understand it and continued to struggle. Then I stopped it and asked a doctor to check my arm. He said that it had been broken but I didn't care because it was a semi-final. I said myself that I should overcome the pain because one step forward and I was in the final which could give me an opportunity to go to European or World championship.…
