Conflict Theory Vs Structural Functionalism
The theory of structural functionalism states that each individual within a society has a specific function or purpose to keep the entire society operating. In other words, everything and everyone has a purpose. In comparison, conflict theory states that individuals within a society are in constant competition with one another. Where structural functionalism states that individuals are working together, conflict theory states that individuals are working against each other. Structural functionalism focuses heavily on the stability of a society, and therefore cannot account for the rapid changes that take place over a certain period of time. Conflict theory, on the other hand, focuses too heavily on conflict, therefore completely excluding

    Compare and contrast conflict theory with structural functionalism. Pay special attention to the way that each theory treats the origin of social change. When it comes to the origin of social change the conflict theory and structural functionalism differ in many ways. Structural Functionalism stresses that society as whole, including the individuals, families, educational system, politics, and the economy come together to create a functioning society.     Functionalist, conflict, and interactionist perspectives are all similar in the fact that they are different ways of analyzing sociology. The functionalist perspective is a positive method of analyzing a society and the individuals that work together in order for the society to fucntion properly.
