Every student has their own way of learning, some learn better in groups, and some work better alone. Writer of “School is Bad for Children”, expresses their opinion through the quote, “It is rare child who can come through his schooling with much left of his curiosity, his independence or his sense of his own dignity, competence and worth.” This very much supports that students are mainly taught conformity through school because we are commonly taught how to perform tasks by rules and lessons. Us as students are told to follow the teachers rules and ways of teaching, but what if that is actually only taking away from our education? Holt also believes, “everybody is playing a kind of role”, due to everyone always having to follow the rules of obedience. A student may be struggling to understand the importance of school because he/she is too busy focusing on learning a lesson being taught that they do not agree with, so it is accurate to say lack of individuality is a disadvantage to student’s
