My areas of strength from the Conley Readiness Index assessment are precision and accuracy, research, and my attitude towards learning content. Precision and accuracy make me a better student, as they allow me to assure that the work I am submitting is formatted correctly, error free, and is upholding high standards. I consider this to be extremely important to my success in school, as I pay attention to details that matter to professors. My researching ability allows me to collect data from many reliable sources online and at the school’s library. This allows me to make sure what I write about consistently has accurate information present to back up my claims. My attitude towards learning allows me to learn as much as I can and get help when…
The CliftonStrengths Assessment is a questionnaire of 177 statements that is a personalized strength insight assessment. It is used to discover what’s best for a person by measuring their thinking, behavior and feelings. Also, how one can determine their greatest talents and strengths by this assessment just based on the statements asked. Based on my results from the assessment, my top five strengths in order was: Futuristic, Focus, Analytical, Deliberative and Relator.…
By completing the competency assessment it helped me analyzed the result, my strengths are: following instructions, adhering to values, organizing, delivering results, coping with pressure, and cooperating. By appropriately following instructions from others without unnecessarily challenging authority will improve my critical thinking skills. Adhering to values, is another strength of mine. In critical thinking I should not take what I hear or read at face value, but weigh up the evidence and consider the implications and conclusions of what was said. “There is nothing more common than evaluation in the everyday world but for sound evaluation to take place, one must establish relevant standards, gather appropriate evidence, and judge the evidence in keeping with the standards” (Russell, 2013). Part of critical thinking is evaluation, to be able to evaluate an evidence is needed. I am an organized person, I can gather all information needed to evaluate something for critical thinking. Another way in applying my results is through evaluating arguments. Coping with pressure is one of my strength, because this, I should be able to see arguments from different point of views. “Reasoning is generally seen as a means to improve knowledge and make better decisions” (Sperber, 2011).…

What are Strengths? This question is one that I did not have the answer to or even respond. When classes started, I knew that everyone had strengths, but I never knew how to go about and find what makes me unique out of seven billion people in the world. When I first took the Clifton Strengths Quest, my mind was pondering how a test that has strongly agree on one end and strongly agree on the other end would produce my five themes. Then as I was reading the results, it was surprisingly accurate with my personality. My five results were Achiever, Intellection, realtor, learner, and input. Reading the description for each word made me reflect on how I was using these five themes in my current life. The Clifton test has helped by identifying what is a strength talent are, figuring out what the best career choice, and using strengths to apply to life.…
I think it is smart of me to want to further and develop my professional knowledge and abilities to expand my career success. How I would develop this knowledge are by building important study skills that will promote my success in life. I will strengthen my will to learn and understand my values of education. I will develop and manage my learning, monitor my progress, resulting in greater personal responsibility and the flexibility to adapt to change. “The willingness and eagerness to learn throughout life is the master key that unlocks the doors to my journey. If I keep this key firmly in my hand, I will discover worlds of knowledge and places for myself within them.” Carol Carter, Joyce Bishop, and Sarah Lyman Kravits, (2007), page 427. By using these strategies I will apply my knowledge to my career success.…
On the self-assessment inventory, I scored between 76 and 88 out of 100 on each key competency except for the Change and Across Cultures competencies. My scores were within the numerical range for 68% of managerial professionals that completed this self-evaluation. For the most part, I see myself as very good on a number of the skills such as balancing my personal and work life, embracing uniqueness, supporting the goals of a team, and making ethical business decisions. For the Across Cultures competency, I am lacking in global experience and the skills to recognize the differences of various cultures and customs. In addition, I need to improve on recognizing, leading, and implementing adaptations when needed by teams and organizations.…
When taking the Smarter Measure assessment I was surprised at what my strengths and weaknesses were. My strongest section was internet competency. Reading recall was the section that was the weakest. I never thought these two would be accurate. I am thirty eight years old, and when I attended high school computers had really just entered the world of technology. Over the years computers have really became a must know, and with that being said without my previous work history, and working on computers then I would be lost in today’s ever changing technology.…
Since I did the Conley Readiness Index assessment I've thought a lot about all my strength and my weaknesses, and I've been also analyzing what can I do to improve all my weaknesses. One of my strength areas is the ownership of learning and according to this strength, I'm really good at setting goals. Another area of strength that I have is precision/accuracy and according to this area I am a perfectionist person and it's true especially when it comes to reviewing and correcting my assignments before submitting it. According to my results, the other area of strength that I have is Attitude towards learning content, and personally, I agree with this one because one characteristic of this strength is that we like to challenge ourselves to maximize…
Taking the Strengths Quest assessment has been enlightening for me. Because of the assessment, I now know what core traits drive me and my personality. Now that I am conscious of these strengths, I can continue to use them to become a better leader. To be a great leader, one must know their strengths and play to them. My strengths are deliberative, intellection, harmony, competition, and input. I now know that these five strengths will guide me and my leadership philosophy. These five strengths can guide my academic life and personal life. Essentially, all of the goals I have in my life will only be achieved if I play to my strengths; as a result it is extremely important that I not only identify my strengths – it is important that I plan…
My strengths were in the areas of “Presence Cognitions” and “Consequence Cognitions”. Presence Cognitions is “…being aware of how the other person is reacting to a conversation; knowing when to recognize others’ negative reactions or resistance, changing the subject, etc.” (Lewicki, Duran, & Spitzberg, 1995, pp. 259-275). This section yielded my highest score of 23 out a possible 20. Consequence Cognitions is “…being aware of the consequences of your communication performance; thinking about how others might interpret what you said, understanding the effects of your communication on others, etc.” (Lewicki et al., 1995, pp. 259-275). I will continue to…
Technological advances over the past several decades have drastically changed how we function on a day to day basis. Typewriters and postal mail were sufficient ways to communicate in the past, and now computers and email have taken over and allowed an almost instantaneous line of communication. The technology of the computer has made a major impact on our lives, and will continue to develop in its sophistication, ability and scope. Computers have allowed for significant advances in communication, information technology, and simply how we function in our daily lives.…
The relevant capabilities to my learning and personal goals are literacy and creative and critical thinking. Literacy is communicating to people in a variety of contexts. You have to ask questions, express opinions, and take different point of views into account. You have to be able to use language with increasing information, clarity, accuracy and sustainability for a range of audiences, contexts and purposes. You will engage with, and reflect on, the ways in which texts are created for specific purposes and audiences. You have to compose a range of texts written, oral, visual, multi-modal. You have to be able to access, analyse and select appropriate primary and secondary sources. You will read, view, write, listen and speak,…
