The theme of decision making and choices is a very important in life making sure you make the right decision that could change your life forever. The four texts have I have chosen are Boys Don’t Cry by Malorie Blackman, My Sisters Keeper by Jodi Picoult, Juno by Jason Reitman and All of these four texts connect together by decision making and how it effects your life.
The Novel Boys Don’t Cry written by Malorie Blackman Is about a young teenage boy (17) called Dante who gets the baby he didn’t know he had, dumped on him by his ex-girlfriend Melanie, the baby mother, who had left and hadn’t been heard of in a year and a half. Dante had to decide whether he wanted to keep his baby Emma or go off to University and put Emma up for adoption. In the end he chose to keep Emma and look after her. This decision would have been the hardest thing to ever do. It could change his life forever. He took that risk and kept his daughter and it worked out great in the end.
Another Character who had to make a life changing decision was Juno from the film Juno she was with Bleeker one night and had unprotected sex and became pregnant in this case it was different to the text Boys Don’t Cry because the Female had to deal with the baby situation and made the decision to put the baby up for adoption whereas in Boys Don’t Cry the baby Emma had been dumped on Dante and he chose to keep Emma. Both were teenage pregnancies and Both of the mothers chose not to keep their child. Even though Mark and Vanessa(adoptive parents) split up Juno still made the decision to give her baby to Vanessa whom really wanted to be a mother.
