Migration is moving from a place to another and intending to settle there. Mexicans migrate to the USA, but there are many reasons why. Push and pull factors are why they move. A push factor is something that is negative and pushes them away, like war, poverty and lack of opportunities. Meanwhile a pull factor is something positive that pulls them to a place like, better jobs, healthcare and lifestyle.

The ‘The Tortilla Curtain’ is an uneven border and consists of barbed wire, metal fencing and anything that was able to support it. Migrants cross in various places, like the San Diego border that crosses onto the Jacumba Desert. At times this border is fairly easy to cross, but after stepping into the US you are met with the USBC who patrol and arrest any illegal migrants, every year around 720,000 migrants cross the border, illegally each year and around 300,00 are caught. The easiest places to cross are surrounded with wasteland and desert making you easy to spot and more at risk of starvation and dehydration. Sometimes migrants travel for days without being caught before they reach their destinations that are usually farms and ranches. Some hire Coyotes, supposable guides to cross the border. If risking your life on foot doesn’t appeal to you, you can smuggle yourself in a car and hope to not get caught, some people have even gone to hide in the engine and seats. There are a lot of ways to illegally getting yourself into the USA, the bad thing is if you get caught, causing yourself to be deported back to Mexico and without a job or enough money. After crossing the border you have to find a job, many migrants work on fruit farms and pick the crop, some work in restaurants, some are farm hands on ranches and others work as cleaners.
