Such as the scene with Alan Ruck in the museum as he is staring at the masterpiece. Almond also talks about how important the characters are and how great of roles Hughes had them play. His main argument is that this film is not just a “teen movie” that it goes much deeper than that.…

One value that I see especially helpful would be the way I look at humanity as a whole. The NASW Code of Ethics value of dignity and worth of the person, which states that social workers treat each person in a caring and respectful fashion, mindful of individual differences and cultural and ethnic diversity, comes to mind. I have always believed the outside of a person is just that: a shell. We all feel sorrow or joy, safe or insecure, content or dissatisfied on the inside. Seeing people for who they are and not for how they look is an ideal that I have tried to incorporate into my life. While there are people who may not hold many values highly, I usually try to feel compassion for how they became that way in the…

The first major argument the film seems to make is that our current education system needs to encourage a more motivating teaching style. Pamela Harris and Ralph Johnson state, “The traditional teaching approaches are generally teacher-directed and follow cookbook steps of activities and demonstrations. This approach may not provide students with valuable skills or even with a body of knowledge that lasts much beyond the end of the term” (par 2). As an education major, you are being taught how to teach in college. But when you get in front of your actual class, you…

My top three terminal values are: “self-respect”, “mature love” and “an exciting life”. My top three instrumental values on an interpersonal level are: “honest”, “loving” and “imaginative”. When I think of interpersonal values, I automatically think of how others relate and perceive me. For my interpersonal priorities I chose “self-respect” first as I believe that this is a key factor in feeling well in relation with others as well as in how others see me. I think self-respect is the foundation for all interpersonal relations in order for me to feel whole. I also chose “mature love” as my top priority list for interpersonal values because for me it is important to feel accepted and to have a sense of belonging with one person in order to feel stable and secure. I also chose “an exciting life” as part of my interpersonal values since it is something that I feel I need to have in my life in order to keep with life demands. For me I believe having a stimulating active life is something that greatly needs to be integrated in order to enjoy life and be able to relate better with others, as having an active life gives me a sense of reward and personal gratification. I strongly believe that I have to be…
