Laurence H. Tribe is a critically acclaimed author and professor of Constitutional Law at Harvard. His speech at the Ford Hall Forum was a summarization of his book “The Invisible Constitution.” In it, Tribe proposes a new way at looking at the Constitution we have come to worship. More than a tangible document, the true power of the Constitution is the series of implications that exist in it; the “invisible” aspects.…
I tended to favor a looser interpretation in this case. The constitution is a document that keeps changing. Although it says ‘All men are created equal’ it doesn't actually mean only men. That has changed to men and women. But now it could mean all people, adults or children. I think that kids underage should have their rights and rules set by their parents, since they are the ones raising them. I also had a looser interpretation on that the law supported the public, even though there was a lack of data. While yes, this is flawed, this was also created with the interest of protecting the public. While having a loose interpretation for the most part, I did have a strict interpretation when it came down to the last question. I very much believe that this law interferes with the parents ability to raise their own kids. They should be able to do it without…

Based on a number of important principles the U.S Constitution aimed for prevention of the abuse of power. The people did want the government have too much power. Americans were afraid of their rights not being protected. These principles were according to which state or organization is governed. These principles are written down in different documents which go in the constitution.…

The first Amendment of the United States Constitution protects the right to freedom of religion, freedom of speech, and freedom of expression from government interference. This is one of the most important amendments in the constitution and is what America is most proud of. However, these rights aren’t all they are cracked up to be. For example, censorship is very common and goes against the freedom of speech. Censorship has many different roles in society both in the past and present. In the past it was used as a way for dictators to control their people and keep them from reading rebellious literature. Hitler even burned all books that he did not like.…
"They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety," says Benjamin Franklin in Historical Review of 1759. Others tend to say just the opposite of what Ben Franklin quoted. With that being said, a key question comes up for discussion: Does the government have the Constitutional power to suspend the Constitution during a time of crisis? Certain documents were brought up for discussion that deal with certain articles from the Constitution and some acts/laws that the Congress passed to substantiate whether the government has certain powers. By using the U.S. Constitution, the Espionage Act, the Sedition Act, an executive order from President Franklin D. Roosevelt, and two federal Supreme…
There were many factors that contributed to the eventual failure of the Union. One of the major controversial topics during this time period was slavery, because it was opposed by the North, but accepted by the South. Along with these disputes came rapid expansion of the United States. This “Manifest Destiny” only inflated many issues in an already divided country. However, when the nation searched for a solution in the Constitution, all that was found was more confusion. As a result of the confusion, many people were able to create disputes against the nation’s backbone. Because of this, one can assume the Constitution led to the eventual destruction of the nation it was trying to protect.…

The most used defense in United States history has always been the Constitution. People have justified many deeds and/or criminal actions with this document. Written a little over two hundred years ago, it’s no surprise that the Constitution is highly debated. In fact, the United States has an entire branch of government specifically for interpreting the Constitution: the judicial branch. However, even the judicial branch’s interpretation is debated; the Supreme Court is constantly judged for its decisions. People wonder just what role the Supreme Court must have in interpreting the Constitution; many varying ideas have surfaced about this. Some take on a more literal interpretation of the Constitution when judging the level of constitutionality…

The constitution of the United States is the supreme law of the land. It was created as a way of distributing power. The framers of the constitution feared the possibility of one person or group becoming too powerful. This is why the federal government was separated into three different branches these include; a legislature, a bicameral congress and the executive branch which is led by the president. The constitution is still an extremely important document and remains relevant to this day.…
“We the People of the United States…” These words are the start of the preamble to one of the most important documents in United States history. The U.S. constitution serves as a foundation to the U.S. way of life. It is clear that without this document the U.S. and its history would be completely different. The purpose of this article is to summarize the constitution’s 7 articles, the bill of rights, and to also inform you the reader of which amendment I think is the most important.…
The Unites States of America is the oldest democracy in the world. The constitutional democracy has worked for more than two centuries. The constitution was formed in a time of need for some of the people. In May of 1787 delegates attended a meeting in Philadelphia “ to establish a national government powerful enough to prevent the young nation from dissolving but not so powerful that it would crush individual liberty” (Magleby,Light,Nemacheck 36). In the creation of the U.S constitution there were three famous compromises that most of the delegates were in agreement on. The first one was “ the compromise between large and small states over representation in congress” (Magleby,Light,Nemacheck 38). The…
