The Constitutional Convention delegates were from a variety of different backgrounds and different political views. This plan allows for each state to have a different number of representatives based on the population. The states with a smaller population preferred the New Jersey Plan. The New Jersey Plan states that each state would have the same number of representatives. A delegate from Connecticut proposed a two-house legislature as a compromise. This compromise set the foundation for the Senate and a House of Representatives. The states with a smaller population favored the Senate…
The Revolution brought along much change in the now United States. Post war changes occurred in the republic, this included politics. One important event was that of the Constitutional Convention in which men formulated and revised state constitutions and also developed the method by which frames of government were written and approved. The status of women was being defined and the idea of abolition rose in the North. The central government’s power of the nation was too low. Unity and power lacked in the Confederation. National debt, trade, and protection against the Spanish and Brits were several of the problems facing the Confederation. Economic troubles also gloomed over the new developing country. During the reformation of the constitution, the question was whether to amend the Articles of Confederation or to write a completely new one. The Virginia Plan and the New Jersey Plan were two that were proposed. Conflict ensued between the states until the Great Compromise came to and established a bicameral congress which included the House of Representatives and the Senate. Men who fought against this new constitution were known as anti-federalists. But in the end the Federalists prevailed and the ratification of the Constitution…
At the Constitutional Convention, the Convention's resolutions on national legislative authority were particularized into a series of enumerated powers. This meant that under federal law these powers can only govern matters within the terms of some power-granting clause of the Constitution. By adding the Necessary and Proper Clause, the Founding Fathers set the criteria for laws that, may not necessarily be within the terms of other grants, serve to make other federal powers effective. The necessary and proper clause may grant power to congress if it is deemed to reinforce the great powers outlined in the enumerated powers.…

Did you know that the Constitutional Convention came together to reform the Articles of Confederation, but they ended up a whole new plan of government? One of the biggest issues was how representation was going to be set up in the Legislative Branch, so two plans were made, one of which is the Virginia Plan. Under the Virginia Plan, the Legislative Branch would be bicameral, or have two houses. Representation would be based on population in both houses, giving Congress and larger states more power. The other plan was called the New Jersey Plan, which is the plan smaller states favored.…

The Great Compromise of 1787 or the Connecticut Compromise of 1787 refers to the settlement of the dispute that rose due to conflicting views put forward by the Virginia Plan and the New Jersey plan. These plans proposed changes in the Articles of Confederation that was the aim of the Philadelphia Convention of 1787. However, whereas the Virginia Plan seemed to provide a greater representation of the more populous states in the national government, the New Jersey Plan was proposed by the smaller states aimed at preventing the balance of the US government from tilting in favor of the more populous states as per the Virginia Plan.…

The Connecticut Compromise: The Connecticut Compromise played a huge part in the adoption of the Constitution. The Virginia Plan had already establishedthat there were three branches of government, but the Connecticut Copromise made the Legislative branch bicameral. It now consisted of the House of Representatives and the Senate. The problem was that the smaller states thought their interests and concerns would not be recognized and the lager states wanted to dominate. So, the decision was made to make two seperate representative governments. The House of Representatives, which had the representatives based on population, and the Senate, which had each state represented equally. The New Jersey Plan was the plan that decided that instead of only one representative from each state in the Senate, there should be two.…
The "Great Compromise" played a significant role in ensuring the continuity of our Constitutional Republic. The Great Compromise, also known as the Connecticut Compromise, resolved the dispute between the larger and smaller states regarding representation in the legislative branch. This compromise satisfied the concerns of both larger and smaller states, ensuring that all states had a voice in the federal government and promoting cooperation between states.…
There was a critical disagreement between the small states and the large states. The small states believed all states should have equal representation in congress, while the larger states thought states should have proportional representation. The framers put forth various plans to solve this difficulty. The two plans proposed were the Virginia Plan and the New Jersey Plan. Each of these had advantages and disadvantages for each of the sides. Overall, the Virginia Plan favored the larger states, while the New Jersey Plan favored the small states. Eventually both sides decided on the Great Compromise. The Great Compromise solved the problem of representation because all states were able to receive equal power in congress. This enabled larger states in the House to have power over taxes and spending, while smaller states in the Senate could check the house’s decisions. As a result, this creates equality within our government.…
During the Constitutional Convention, James Madison and his fellow delegates were trying to write a new document known as the Constitution, which would change the way the government would run for the future years of the nation. There were fifty-five white male individuals that joined the call for a Constitutional Convention in the town of Philadelphia in May of 1787. The members agreed to create a new constitution, to make the central government stronger, but try not to create a tyranny, like the harsh power of King George III.…

They also made the Constitution able to be changed if necessary. Not all the delegates were professional people they were…
