Supervised Industrial Training
Weekly Report of Activities
FOURTH Week (April 22 - April 26, 2013)

NAME OF TRAINEE : NEMUEL M. RIVERA
COURSE : BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN CIVIL ENGINEERING
COMPANY : PENTECOSTAL MISSIONARY CHURCH OF CHRIST (4TH WATCH)

Accomplishments:

Our training starts with short theoretical discussion about stair reinforcements and concrete mixing and pouring. My co-trainees Marfred R. dela Rosa, Eduardo U. Suazo Jr., Jordan D. delos Reyes, Ritchie A. Ligtas, Tom Ruzzel M. Aler and I where eventually requested by Engr. Rhea Rayos, our supervising engineer to visit the construction site which is a four storey commercial building located at Miguelito St., Paliparan, Marikina City. We were able to have a hands-on activity on how to install stirrups and reinforcement bars on stairs.

Our supervising engineer also taught us to manage a construction logbook. Its purpose is to monitor the entire development in the construction process. It is part of the documents required in any constructions by the municipal engineering office.

We inspected two more projects sites on Pasay City. One is the renovation of Maranatha Christian Academy building which is on-going. It will be replaced by a two-storey building to be constructed with “I - beams” with a working schedule of 70 days. And the other one is the Pentecostal Missionary Church of Christ (4th watch) annex building where the materials to be used are G.I. pipes for post and angular bars for framing.

We were asked to do an as-built of the stairway. We estimated that the time frame of the construction of the stairs is 8 days.

The competitive forces in the movie rental industry are quite strong, as I will explain through the five forces model. There are a vast amount of substitutes for watching a movie. You can go to a play, sporting event, concert, out the lake/beach, go for a run, watch regular television, go shopping; I could go on and on. Also, torrenting or pirating movies is growing increasingly popular. Buyers have a strong presence in this industry mainly because they are picky about how much they will pay to rent or stream a movie. With the amount of substitutes and their pickiness, they make this industry more competitive than what it may seem. Suppliers can make this industry very difficult because there is so much red tape in the movie industry. There are copyrights and restrictions on everything. This gives the supplier a lot of leverage and for the most part, they know that they can demand a price of just about anything. I see the potential and threat of new entrants being moderate to strong. First off; many customers have their loyalties whether it be to Netflix, Redbox or a local hometown movie rental. Secondly; pricing, availability and quality are all key factors. Lastly you have to have a large sum of money upfront in order to get the ball rolling. As I mentioned prior, gaining rights from movie companies is not cheap. The rivalry among the competitors is rather intense as they are battling for the best prices, biggest variety, quickest accessibility for the customer, and quality movies (HD streaming, few scratches and number of blu-rays).…

The hotel was equipped to conduct an open concept atrium, conference hall and more with 40 story hotel tower. Inside the architecture, the second, third and fourth floor was connected with three walkways and it was 50 feet height,17 feet width and 145 feet long. (ASBEC) suggests that the building sector is directly responsible for around 24% of the total energy use. At present this is split fairly evenly between the residential and commercial building sectors. Reducing energy use and reducing greenhouse gas emissions are both worthwhile goals as it saves money and saves the environment. Reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions has been presented with increasing urgency within recent years as it is driving climate change. With the inevitable coming of midterms, presentations, labs, and school work—the stress has become a problem. I’ve lost focus on both short-range and long-range goals in changing the behavior. I slipped up and made a mistake, and temporarily lapsed to going to back to Facebook for a long duration. Before I could realize, it has become a complete relapse, going back to a full-blown pattern of unwanted behavior, or even worst. I stopped record keeping from 02/23/10 till now. This has made it even worst. I’ve realized that I went on Facebook, much more frequently even more than the baseline, in both frequency and duration of each login. I’ve also noticed that it is a cycle: stress induces the…

Construction contracts structure the way in which construction is purchased. There are variety between construction purchasing system and buying something in a store for instance mobile phone or sofa. When we have the finished product available for our inspection, we can decide whether it meets our requirements. Since the final product is available, we can purchase it from a single store. With the construction it works different. The facility is purchased before it is „manufactured” based on set of drawings and work descriptors. Finally item requires the purchaser to coordinate many entities to include:…
