Consumerism
Consumerism is destroying Americans one by one each day. Consumerism is the promotion of the consumer’s interests; the theory that an increasing consumption of good is economically desirable; also; a preoccupation with and an inclination toward the buying of consumer goods. Consumerism refers to the consumption of goods at a higher rate. The economy is judged off the production of selling goods. The more goods produced and consumed by society the higher the growth rate of the economy. Consumerism is an idea of an economic policy that the market shaped by the choice of the consumer and continues to emerge to shape the world’s mass markets. The prosperity of a nation is judged by the per capita income of individuals residing in it. The economy is considered to be” doing well” if the purchasing power of the people is high. In the consumer society, people replace their goods with newer ones. They purchase goods, use them then throw them away. New goods; when they become old, are replaced by newer ones. People spend large amounts of money on products, which in some cases lead too rescission, depression and maybe unemployment.
When dealing with consumerism, Americans need to straighten up. We buy absolutely too much. Therefor gain Individual responsibility for our actions. Many Americans like to blame the government for their impulsive spending and consumption. In fact, it is not their fault. We need to only consume things that we ‘’really’ ’need and do not want. ‘All of our potentials for good are
Unlimited….The Question becomes not whether we use resources but what we use them for. Do we use them to improve lives? On the other hand, do we waste them? My life itself is a resource.
