High school as well as college is just another part in everyone’s life. Almost everyone goes through such a transition between two very diverse and different worlds. These diverse worlds can be compared and contrasted by everyone; however, not all are aware of the possible similarities and differences between them. High school and college life differ in terms of time schedule, academic responsibilities, as well as the culture by each student. First of all, high school is the first step to a higher level of learning. High school equips students’ minds with the proper knowledge needed in order to survive college and other higher levels of learning. The topics being taught in high school are generalized in basic math, science, English, Spanish, and many other subjects. The students are more relaxed and their responsibilities are not that complicated compared to the time schedule of college students. A high school pupil’s schedule is more fixed because the standard call time is at 7:30 A.M. and end at 5:00 P.M. Students are more immature and need guidance in order to lead fulfilling lives. They study inside a single classroom every day, thus having little freedom. All in all, high school is a time for learning and new life experiences. Everyone should experience it because life experience prepares everyone for the next step in life. College, on the other hand, is a different story. The subjects a student will learn and discuss are much more specific since he or she can finally choose a career path he or she will take into the future. College students are older and their work load is more complex and heavier. College students have more responsibilities to carry because the curriculum is more specific and complicated. Detailed topics are being discussed regarding their chosen career path. In contrast with the fixed regular schedule of high school students, college students’ time schedules are flexible because they can choose their own desired schedule. College students are more outgoing and independent compared to high school students. The culture of college students is more diverse because there is a larger number of students attending college and each student has their own nationality. College students come from many other states and even some come from different countries. Colleges are more diverse because students that come from different countries expose us to different ways of life, beliefs, and traditions. People can really see the distinctive differences between these two phases in life. There are also some similarities they will carry on during their transition into college like having to sit through lectures, write papers, and spend countless hours studying. Friends from high school will always be there especially when a constant connection is kept between them. College is a new beginning and presents a great opportunity to try new things and meet new people. Many of the people met in college will become life-long friends because of the things gone through together. In a way, the transfer to adulthood is made with the help of those new found friends. Everyone goes through high school and college. It can be contrasted that college is more challenging and complex than high school. College is a higher level of learning which requires more time, effort, and devotion to his or her studies. Even though college is very tiring at times, it can still be more enjoyable and exciting than high school. To have that kind of freedom in a schedule is very rewarding; however, proper judgment is a must since being mature students is expected now.
