Contrast Of Courage In The Odyssey And The Journey
Odysseus from The Odyssey and the narrator from “The Journey both share the trait of courage. In The Odyssey was battling the suitors and he showed his strength and courage by how he dealt with the situation that he was put into. For example, Odysseus tells the Suitors “You forced yourselves upon this house. Fight your way out, or run for it, if you think you’ll escape death. I doubt one man of you skins by”(22.1285-1287). By doing this he shows that he is able to fight the suitors and have confidence that he will win due to his courage. In addition, in “The Journey” the narrator was having trouble doing what she wanted to do because of everybody giving her bad advice but one day she knew what she wanted to do.     Odysseus and I demonstrate bravery in various ways. The first way Odysseus demonstrates bravery was when he wasn’t scared to approach the Cyclops to give him some wine. Odysseus said, “Cyclops, try some wine. Here’s liquor to wash down your scraps of men” (904).
