The story of Oedipus clearly shows a hypothetical situation in which specific people are able to predict the future, by the use of the oracle of Delphi and through the prophet Tiresias. According to this principle, all actions are already predestined, even if there is the opportunity to see the future, which takes us to the point of believing that our fate has actually more power than our free will. The fact that both father (Laius) and son (Oedipus) had a chance to consult the oracle didn’t alter the destiny despite the fact that they could re-organize their ideas and act in different ways. Anyways, both stories try to represent human errors in such a way that its main purpose is to reach and touch the audience feelings by representing hypothetical situations. Finally, one very interesting part of the story that had a lot of impact along Odysseus’s tragedy is that he ended removing his eyes, for some reason, both him and Tiresias are the only blinded characters, but at the same time full of knowledge. I believe this teach us that digging too much into the future has its consequences, we might be able to find lots of revelations, either beneficial or not, however, our existence in this universe shouldn’t be a stressful topic that just look for questions instead of answers, but rather a reason to be better selves and enjoy each day of our
