Effective communication begins with a well written sentence. Independent clause consists of a subject and a predicate verb that expresses a complete thought. A dependent clause is a subject a predicate verb that does not express a complete thought. A predicate verb is and action or state of being. You can only join an independent clause with either another independent clause, or a dependent clause. Introduction paragraph: capture the attention, thesis statement. A thesis statement is a complete sentence that contains one main idea. This idea controls the content of the entire essay. A thesis statement that has sub points also helps a reader know how the essay will be organized. The thesis statement is essentially a “road map” that tells what you want the reader to know, and how you intend to show them. The thesis statement should be the last sentence in the introduction paragraph.
Body: All sub points should be focused on and detailed in the exact same order they appeared in the thesis statement. Each point should have its own paragraph.
