Plus her mother was getting captured. She could possibly be next. How it impacts on the story was that, Amari has no family left, and she does not know this, but she is going to be a slave. This made me feel really upset, because I wouldn’t want my family to be taken from me! How cruel!!! Don't you agree? A little later in the book, Amari and a few other slaves, went on to a boat that was on the blue waters. In the story it said, “When she got to the deck, Amari stood amazed,-it was like a small city made of wood…….Barrels and boxes littered the area, and dozens of men running around shouting at one another. They were laughing and cheerful, but Amari noticed that everyone seemed to be holding a weapon on their back-a gun, a sword,a knife. Confused and frightened she didn’t know what to think”. This is another emotion displayed in Copper Sun. Like when Tidbit, Amari, and Polly go to pick fruit. “ ‘Where Africa be? the boy wanted to know. ‘Far away. Over ocean. Under sky, she replied in english. ‘What does it look like?’ Polly asked. ‘It look like bright colors, like happy. Sunshine. Family. Chickens and goats. Not need much.’ Amari smiled softly, thinking back to the green seas of grass…….., the red and green screaming Jocana birds…….the annoying little monkey…. She wanted to explain how right everything felt in a place where she was surrounded by mischievous children, overbearing cousins, and cluttering elders who were all a part of her.” The reason she felt full of joy, and happiness was because she was asked something that was about home. It made her remember all the sweet, and wonderful things that were at home, in Africa. It let Amari know that there is still happiness even in the worst moments in time. Another example of Happines is shown in the part of the story when Amari, Tidbit, and Polly are in the forest on their way to freedom. The proof is from the text, “Amari disappeared into the darkness. When Amari returned a couple of hours later, her feet were covered in mud. In her hand however she triumphantly held up three large fish.” I’m sure Amari and the others are very grateful or excited for food, because they have walked so much. They are all probably very exhausted. NOw they have more of a chance
