CORPORAL PUNISHMENT IN OUR SCHOOL SYSTEMS You will find that most people will try and argue the fact that corporal punishment should be banned from our school systems. Although most states have not outlawed corporal punishment in our schools, most of the school systems do not enforce corporal punishment. Children of all ages need to be held accountable for their actions and at the rate the school systems are going, children know they can misbehave and they will not have any repercussions for their actions. When it comes to spanking or how a child should be disciplined in school; we are all entitled to our opinions. I strongly believe the schools need to take back control of the children and hold them responsible. Most of the children know that they can misbehave and the only repercussions they will receive are ISS (In School Suspension), detention, at home suspension, or a telephone call to their parents. I will present many different sources and argue or agree with their decisions on whether or not corporal punishment should be banned or allowed in our school system. According to Leslee Garcia, a teacher at Forney High School in Forney, Texas, she believes that Corporal Punishment should be enforced in the school system. Garcia has explained that the teenagers are very disrespectful and have the “I don’t care attitude” and that you cannot do anything to me. Garcia also explained the teenagers know they will not be held accountable for their actions because the schools will not enforce the Corporal Punishment policy or the parents will not sign the forms that will allow the schools to enforce the policy. She also states that the parents in today’s society do not discipline, they are more lineate, and are opposed to the forms of discipline that we were accustom too.
I completely agree with Mrs. Garcia, she made valid points of why children act the way they do. If Corporal Punishment is not the
