Corporate Code of Ethics
It is now more compelling to every IT companies to have a laid down Code of Ethics in their organization. The idea is a way of establishing a Corporate Code of Ethics or Conduct. This Code of Ethics not only highlights ethical issues but also presents the organization’s values and principles. The United Nation also set a standard Code of Conduct. The Code of Conduct is respect for fundamental human rights, social justice and human dignity, and respect for the equal rights of men and women. Consequently, I endeavor to go into the unethical issues of Apple. Like its well-known that Apple is one of the largest producers of smart phones and tablets. Their product stands out among other competitors. They produce high quality phones and durable tablets. According to New York Times that reported how Apple sidesteps billions in taxes. Apple’s headquarter is in Cupertino, California. But, apple strategically put another office in Reno, Nevada that is 200miles away from California. This was done in order for them to collect and invest the company’s profit, as a result of California corporate tax rate of 8.84 percent and Nevada corporate tax rate is 0%. They thereby, denied state of California the deserved tax money. All these amount to unethical management decision to the detriment of California people. Their actions have set a bad business precedent. It is also known that Apple always looks for cheap way to maximize their profit at the expense of others. Apple’s major buyers were in America but refuse to give back to the country. Apple deliberately manufactures all their products in China because of cheap labor. Even in China where they operate there is fragrant abuse of human right. Apple has made several unethical decisions that have led to uproar in China. Although, Apple has its own Code of Ethics and Policy which I think were not properly implemented. Because if Apple has formed there company’s values that mesh well with its staff’s personal and cultural values, and
