MY DISSERTATION PROPOSAL

PROBLEM STATEMENT AND JUSTIFICATION
ALTHOUGH MANY SCHOLARLY WORKS HAVE BEEN DONE IN THE MENDE LANGUAGE, YET VERY LITTLE IS WRITEN ON THE ASPECT OF POETIC DEVICES IN THE LANGUAGE. THIS COULD BE AS A RESULT OF LESS ATTENTION BEING GIVEN TO PEOTIC DEVICES IN THE LANGUAGE. INFACT, SOME PEOPLE DO NOT TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY AS PART OF THE GRAMMAR OF THE LANGUAGE.THERFORE, ONE OF THE PROBLEM WILL BE BRINGING OUT THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE SELECTED POETIC DEVICES IN THE MENDE LANGUAGE..
IN ADDITION, THE HISTORICAL BACKGROUND AND THE LOCATION OF THE MENDE LANGUAGE AND ITS SPEAKERS, STRUGGLE WITH THE LINGUISTIC CLASSIFICATION OF THE LANGUAGE COULD BE POTENTIAL PROBLEMS THE RESEACHER WILL HAVE TO FACE WITH.
IN VIEW OF THE ABOVE, SINCE ANY UNDERTAKENING OF THE STUDY OF ANY ASPECT OF THE IS VERY MUCH IMPORTANT, EMBARKING ON SUCH RESEACH IS HIGHLY JUSTIFIABLE.

SCOPE OF STUDY
THE SCOPE OF THE STUDY IS ‘’AN EXAMINATON OF THE LINGUISTIC SIGNIFICANCE OF SELECTED POETIC DAVICES IN THE MENDE LANGUAGE’’. THIS WILL INCLUDE SIMILE, METAHOR, PERSONIFICATON, ALLITERATION, ASSONANCE, HYPERBOLE, ONOMATOPOEIA, SYMBOLS, OXYMORON, IMAGERY, SPEAKER, STANZA, TONE THE SIGNIFICANCE OF POETIC DEVICES, THEIR FUNCTIONS, HOW THEY ARE RELATED TO 0THER LANGUAGES [EXAMPLE ENGLISH]. IN ADDITION, FOR THE RESEACH TO MEET IT GOALS, IT WILL LOOK AT THE ORTHOGRAPHY OF THE LANGUAGE AND ITS LINGUISTIC CLASSIFICATION
AIMS AND OBJECTIVE
THE RESEACHER AIMS AT BRING OUT THE LINGUISTIC SIGNIFICANCE OF POETIC DEVICE IN THE MENDE LANGUAGE. THE OBJECTIVES ARE AS FOLLOW;
TO HELP IN DEVELOPING THE LITERATURE OF THE MENDE LANGUAGE.
TO MAKE AVAILABLE OF A MATERIAL ON POETIC DEVICES IN THE MENDE LANGUAGE TO STUDENT AND THE PUBLIC ALIKE.
AND TO MAKE A RECOMMANDATION TO THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION IN RELATION TO HOW POETIC DEVICES IN THE MENDE LANGUAGE CAN BE TAUGHT IN SCHOOL AND OTHER LEARNING INSTITUTIONS WHICH MIGHT NEED IT

IMPORTANCE OF THE STUDY
