Correctional Counselor Throop was interviewed on September 29, 2016. CC Throop stated at approximately 12 o'clock on September 28, 2016 he was in the process of passing out trays in Hopi Alpha when he was called to the appellants cell. CC Throop stated the appellant advised him there was a cockroach in his brownie. CC Throop stated he directed the appellant to hand him the tray to inspect the brownie in which confirmed there was a live cockroach inside. CC Throop stated he immediately contacted the kitchen to replace the appellants food tray and advised UM Escarcega of the incident. …show more content…
Unit Manager Escarcega was interviewed on October 4, 2016, at which time stated he was advised on September 28, 2016 the appellant received a tray with a brownie and found a cockroach.
UM Escarcega stated he took the tray to his office and notified the kitchen staff. UM Escarcega stated a photo was not taken of the cockroach.
Upon review of interviews, Officer Gurrola concludes the appeal is GRANTED IN PART at the first level response. La Palma Correctional Facility Kitchen was notified of the cockroach in the appellants brownie and the tray was
replaced.
