The flower in the middle of my painting reflects my life; each petal represents different stages. The petals aren’t finished since my life is not finished. The monochromatic flowers represent people in my life like my mother, father, sister and boyfriend. The large blue one represents my mother, the yellow one is my father, the purplish-red one is my sister and the orange one is my boyfriend. Each flower has vines and the vines intertwine with vines from other flowers, representing how our live intermingle. The background represents the world. The grey is symbolic of how depressing the world is with global warming, inflation, starvation, depression, murder, and crime. The flowers are brightly colored to show that even though the world has many problems, we as individuals can make the most of it.

My Life and Family What kinds of day to day activities, rituals, or traditions have been a part of your life. Simple things that give us joy, or influence us, can be inspiration for art. An old tree in the backyard, a family reunion, dreams of the future, reflections of a childhood memory

This artwork represents the interrelationship between life and death. The cabinet is organised with vibrant colours of extravagantly alive objects with beauty and fragility on top of the objects that are camouflage colours, which symbolise war and unrest. The objects within the cabinet are similar and yet, contrast one another. This artwork shows the juxtaposition of nature and the threats that arose as conflict did. Hall has used great amounts of symbolism to create effect and evoke emotion. The purpose of the cabinet is to represent the morgue, a sense of captivity and helplessness. The cabinet holds many flowers, vibrant and beautiful, also holds a camouflage poppy flower. The poppy is a symbol of war. After a battle of WW1 red poppy’s sprouted in the battlefield. It is said they were red from the soldiers’ blood, representing death and remembrance. This artwork refers to the use of the earth, the natural world and the world mankind has created. It is a very political artwork, with representations of civil unrest, and aftermath of…

I believe that the sunlight represents the virtue and goodness in each person. I am not quite sure about the windblown trees, but maybe it could symbolize the tormenting that Hester and Pearl have gone through, especially Hester in the town square, when she was forced to wear her Scarlet letter, and Pearl being ostracized for “being the product of a sin”.…

The eight men that threw a World Series might be recognized for participating in one of the worst known scandals in sports, but it isn’t the only time a Major League Baseball Commissioner has had to banish a player for gambling.…

I have chosen to use the flower as a way of portraying the “hippie” movement of the 1960’s, in order to truly depict how necessary all of the protests and promotions of peace were to ending the war. At the time, a slogan called “Flower Power” had become widely recognized as symbol of passive resistance and anti-violence ideologies. Protesters would offer policeman flowers, all in hopes of showing the American government how important it was to end the violence in the Vietnam, and show them how to accept peace and love. Specifically, the daisy flower is to be used in the memorial because during this time of “Flower Power,” daisies had become almost signatory, as many protesters were using these flowers as symbols of their hopes and ideologies. Along with this relation, the daisy flower is a common symbol of both love and transformation, a perfect way to describe what America had to go through during the Vietnam war times. Essentially, The daisy flower would be used to symbolize the significance and importance of protest against the Vietnam war, and the promotion of peace. The second architectural detail is the small but noticeable water droplets, one on each side of the stem. These drops are more than simply aesthetic, as they hold a homage to the fallen American soldiers. I chose to use theses droplets of water as some kind of depiction of aftermath, the aftermath of a storm, which in this case would be the war. The droplets portray the lives of the soldiers, and how those lives are to now slowly fade away, and once again become simply a part of history. They show the pure sadness that the American public was feeling during the war times, in a way portraying their feelings for their lost loved ones. These droplets can be interpreted as either rain drops from a storm, depicting how lives were lost during a storm that was the Vietnam war, or the tears…

In nature, bounteous displays and vivid colors are considered ideal, especially when it comes to flowers. A great example of this is Little Bouquet in a Clay Jar by Jan Bruegel. This is an oil painting of an arrangement of flowers in a modest clay pot. The flowers are extremely voluptuous and bountiful in comparison to the small vase. The flowers take up the majority of the SPACE of the painting, displaying their importance and the ideal that nature is plentiful with beauty. The artist used COLOR in a layering effect of the flower-he used mostly blue, red, and darker yellow flowers in the back so that they can be seen threw the mostly lighter colored flowers in the forefront of the arrangement. This adds to the density and volume of the bouquet. The clay pot, wild flowers, and slugs and bugs all add to the natural and organic feel of the painting. Each flower is painted so intricately and with extreme detail despite the incredible volume of flowers. This attention to detail of each individual flower displays the artist’s appreciation and admiration of the beauty of nature and flowers in particular. This is also evident in the way the artist used LIGHT to bring to life the flowers and really capture their vividness, but yet the gold coins and jewelry in the corner is dull in comparison. This painting is a great example of how the idealistic of nature are displayed in artwork.…

Some objects in the painting are a pregnant woman, a burning candle, a skull, and a cross lying on the table under some books. The way the woman’s head is rested on her hand and she is staring into the candle light, shows that she is in deep thought. I believe that the woman is reflecting upon her life. She looks to be pregnant, which represents life. The unity of…

I chose a medieval art where Judith cut off the head of Holofernes. The story behind this painting is that Judith saved the Jews of Bethulia from being destroyed by Holofernes, who had brought his whole army to her village. Judith wanted the elders to interfere with general Holofernes plans, but they told her to leave things in the hands of God and to trust in him. Instead, she decided to deal with things herself if no one was going to do anything about it. Judith was a beautiful widow determined to do whatever it takes. She gained the trust of the general, says she has information on the Israelites. The general comes to admire her and invites Judith to his banquet, so she then puts on the finest clothes on and goes to find the general in his tent. She gets him drunk and seduces him, and he goes to lie down in bed expecting her to follow him, but she goes and gets his sword and cuts his head off.…

The visual imagery used in Sandra Cisneros Only Daughter and Alice Walker The Flowers allows the reader to get a feel as if they are there in the scene or environment. "In a sense, everything I have ever written has been for him, to win his approval even though I know my father can't read English words, ..." (Cisneros 1). Expressing how she wished her father would care about her writings in some point. I also believe Cisneros wants me as the reader to imagine if I were her at the very moment, feeling and thinking what she felt to give a clear and realistic feeling of the moment. "It seemed to Myop as she skipped lightly from hen house to pigpen to smokehouse that the days had never been as beautiful as these," (Walker 1).On the other hand, Alice…
