Cosmetology It can be difficult finding the right career you want to spend the rest of your life doing. Now that I am a junior in high school, I have decided what job I think would be best for me. The path I have chosen to take is cosmetology. Cosmetology deals with hair cuts, hair coloring, and makeup. It can also deal with, nails, pedicures, and massages. There are so many different reasons why I chose this career. There are many advantages to becoming a cosmetologist and disadvantages. There are a variety of reasons why I have chosen to become a cosmetologist. All types of different opportunities are available. Such as, being as creative as you want to when you cut or color hair. There are no limits to how people want their hair done. Another opportunity, is eventually being able to start your own business. Once a cosmetologist has been working in a salon for a couple years, it would benefit them more if they were to open up their own salon. It would benefit them more financially. There are a lot of advantages when you become a cosmetologist. One of the advantages is making people feel good about themselves. I think this is a very important advantage when becoming a cosmetologist because it makes them feel welcome and comfortable. Also, personal interaction is another
advantage. Being in the cosmetology field takes a lot of communication skills, this helps a cosmetologist built their client list if they wanted to open their own business. Another asset is, it has fewer years of education. All states have different requirements to become a cosmetologist, but it only takes about two years to get the license. Not only is cosmetology about hair, it also has the advantage of getting your nail, makeup, and masseuse licenses. Unfortunately, there are some disadvantages to becoming a cosmetologist.
Such as, the hourly wages. The average wage for a cosmetologist is about twelve dollars and seventy-two cents and tips. Even though that is above minimum wage, cosmetologist does not always have appointments, so they have slow days. Also, a cosmetologist spends a great deal of time on their feet and that can lead to pain in the back or legs. Another downside to becoming a cosmetologist is the licensing requirements. All states have different requirements, such as how many hours are required. It is important to know and understand all the requirements before committing to the cosmetology
field. There are a lot of advantages for cosmetologist, but there are also some downsides. I believe becoming a cosmetologist will be difficult, but no matter how hard it will be, I still want to try and become a licensed cosmetologist. I have a big interest in makeup, hair, and nails, so I think this will be the perfect career for me.
