One of the major infulential people in the history of costa rica is José "Pepe" Figueres. He started out by trining people to fight for democracy in their civil war against communism. Once he won the war he was elected president and his first oder of bisness was to reform costa rica by emiminating the army, giving woemen the right to vote and outlawing communism. He was relected twice and through his time being poresident he reformed more of costa rician socity and made allies with other countrys to boost the costa rician economy. In Costa Rica we will be staying in the city of San José. Some of the tourist attractions we will go it is the central market, the Pre-Columbian Gold Museum and the Parque Nacional of San José. Some of the native dishes we might enjoy are Gallo Pinto or the olla de carne. The Gallo Pinto is a dish that consist of beans and rice that will be eaten inside of a tortilla.
Recipe:
To make this dish you will need one pound of beans, 1 small onion, 3 cups of chicken broth, 2 cups of white rice, a pinch of salt and 2 tablespoons of oil to cook the Gallo pinto. To start you will need to put the beans in water and soak them overnight if they are dried or if they are fresh you can skip that step. Next, you will need to fill a pot half the way up with water and place the beans inside the pot. Let them boil/simmer for around 3 hours put some oil in a pan and cook the rice for 2 minutes and then add some chopped onions and cook for another 2 minutes add the chicken broth. Let that mixture simmer for around 30 minutes. Then combine the 2 parts and serve with tortillas to eat the dish with. Costa Rica has a warmer climate so I will be packing clothing for a warm weather. I will also pack shoes that can get wet if it rains. I must also bring some shoes that I can use to go inside of a national park and will not slip. My packing list will include:
T-shirts

“nice boutique hotel outside of san jose”
4 of 5 starsReviewed
“This is a cute hotel in a so-so neighborhood outside san jose about 1/2 hour from airport.
Rooms were small but very nice. Outside courtyard restaurant was beautiful. Hotel was clean and staff was great. Good for the one night we needed after flying in that night and leaving the next morning for rain forest.”

Adventure Inn
“Refreshing, comfortable, unexpected”
5 of 5 stars
“This gem of a hotel has many glowing reviews--believe them! We stayed here for two nights about two weeks ago. I had moderate expectations when I heard we were going to a local hotel...we spent the first half of our vacation at a high-end resort...but I was pleasantly surprised. It's bright, beautiful, and super clean.”

Great service, reasonable price, decent location”

‘The ENTIRE staff were very helpful and friendly throughout or stay and most spoke passable to good English. Our room was large, bed was excellent Select Comfort. Food was good and overall prices were comparable to a similar stay in the USA at a similar property. Pool did not have enough chairs/loungers on a couple of hot days.”
89.00 USD per night
I am going to choose the adventure inn because it seems like the cheapest for the
trip.
