This area has a long sweeping bay, terminating in the North and South Ridges of Playa Flamingo (top tip- actually Costa Rica doesn’t have any Flamingos) . Every cove is different, some white sand, some black sand and some shell beaches (conchal means shell in Spanish) . The locals will tell you that this is the best beach in the Country. Located just an hour from the capital San Jose, Jaco is a big favorite with locals looking to escape the city at the weekends. World famous for its raunchy nightlife and powerful surf, it was one of the first beaches to become popular.
Playa Dominical / Ojochal
Located in the South of the country, if you have an impression of Costa Rica from Jurassic park (which by the way wasn’t filmed in Costa Rica) then this is the place. Leaves as tall as a person, and flora and palm trees spilling out onto the beaches. There isn’t really a town center, just beach after gorgeous beach spread along around 20 miles of highway
