because I feel as if our food would have more flavors and would fill me up more. Finally, desserts in Costa Rica consist of a lot of chocolate.
A cono capuchino, is basically an ice cream cone covered in chocolate. I do not eat very many things with chocolate in them, so this is very interesting to me. I do like to try new things, so I may try to make my own version of cono capuchino! Another sweet that they prepare is dulce de leche, which is basically just the syrup of boiled milk and sugar. I have heard very good things about melcocha, which is just a candy made from raw sugar. The fact that the Costa Rican desserts are simple, indicate to me that the Costa Ricans can be very resourceful in using what they have, which may not be much, to make delicious food and
desserts. Overall, Costa Rican foods are very different from American foods, and I think that is because of the difference in indigenous ingredients that each country has. The holiday foods seem, to me, to differ the most from a lot of American holiday foods. The main difference from our food and Costa Rican food is that they use a lot of rice and a lot of vegetables and fruits in their meals, rather than a lot of meat. To me, the desserts sound very good and I am going to try to make some of them. Their food sounds very delicious and from now on every time I go to the grocery store I’m going to look for some Costa Rican cuisine!
