Race, an aspect of diversity led to the arrest and wrongful imprisonment of Ronald Cotton. When Cotton, went to the police station to clear his name, as he heard of the charges, the police had no further ado than to arrest and to charge him with sexual assault. The police charged him with breaking Jennifer’s premises and rape. In the context of this story, one would ask, do minority races have ample presentation in the judicial processes? Again, is the criminal justice system fair and equal to all individuals without regard to race? An impartial response to these questions would be no. Race alone and not substantial evidence led to the wrongful charging and imprisonment of Ronald Cotton. Thanks to the DNA test that the truth came to reveal last, although the suspect had to suffer for over ten years. Also, another woman raped the same night as Jennifer, accused Cotton of her…

In the early 1800's there were many things that were hard to do because there were not machines to do them like we have now. Eli Whitney was the man who invented the Cotton Gin, and made the Cotton production go along ten times faster. Eli Whitney was born in 1765, and grew up on a farm in Massachusetts. When he had grown older, he got a job at a tobacco plantation in South Carolina. But with the growing cotton industry in the south, Whitney's employers turned to growing cotton. Eli Whitney saw how hard it was to grow and manufacture cotton, because it took many hours to get the seeds out of the cotton, then spin into clothing. With the financial help of his employer, he started working on an Invention, and when it was finished, it was called the Cotton Gin. The Cotton Gin's purpose was to get all the seeds out of the cotton a lot…

After the release of Cotton, both Cotton and Thompson have appeared together on various interviews. It is usually best to act friendly during an interview to avoid any awkward situations. The two did have casual conversations with one another. However, Thompson herself wanted nothing to do with Ronald Cotton. She was extremely uncomfortable with Cotton’s presence on their first interview together. Thompson’s discomfort is shown through the line “Finally, I agreed on the condition that I have no contact with Ronald Cotton” (Cotton, Thompson, and Torneo 237). If Thompson is this uncomfortable with Cotton it will be impossible for the two to become friends.…

Racial profiling and discrimination against someone’s race occurs every day in America. This happens continuously within the justice system and goes unnoticed. In the book Picking Cotton, Ronald Cotton was accused of rape and was incarcerated for 10 and a half years in North Carolina, even though he was innocent. Ronald Cotton is not the only one who has faced racism, Darryl Hunt was only 19 when was incarcerated for 20 years for being wrongfully accused of rape and murder. So why where these innocent men imprisoned?--because of their race, criminal background, false accusations and white supremacy in the U.S. criminal justice system.…

On February 12, 1663 I came into a family of Puritan Ministers. My father was a well - respected Puritan Minister of a small church in the town of Boston, Massachusetts. At age 12 I attended the University of Harvard. After being born into a Puritan family, I brought it upon myself to become a minister. My first sermon was preached during the month of August in the year 1680. At the age of 22, I officially became a minister in the year 1685 (Walker). After the Salem Witch Trials were over, a play writer named Arthur Miller created a play called The Crucible. I believe I was a very important part of the play considering I helped the judges collect spectral evidence during the trials, but Miller did not think so, therefore I was not portrayed in the play.…

Mead & Hampson (1996) developed a study involving the divided visual field paradigm and a phonological rhyme/non-rhyme task to test the speed and accurateness of either side of the brain. This study was used to investigate functional asymmetry between the left and right hemispheres in phonological processing. The research was taken out equally on 15 male and 15 females London Metropolitan University students ranging from ages 18 – 35 years old. They were all specifically chosen to be right–handed and had English as their first language thus providing a fair experiment to see whether our left hemisphere (left side of the brain) or the right hemisphere is faster and more accurate. In conclusion using the mean and standard deviation to determine our hypothesis, it was calculated that the left hemisphere had a higher mean and standard deviation score compared to the right hemisphere.…

The first report I found from http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-bristol-20084254 was for Winterbourne View care home for people with disabilities the report says eleven care workers male and female were involved. One victim was showered fully clothed and had mouth wash poured into her eyes , while another was asked if they wanted their face grated with a cheese grater , the abuse got so much for one patient that he tried jumping out of his window from the second floor to then be mocked by the care workers, this all came to light by BBC One Panorama doing undercover recordings it was told to CQC that ignored the complaint. After the recordings were shown on BBC one the eleven care workers admitted to 38 different charges of abuse and neglect, six were jailed between six months to two years while the other five were on suspended sentences, the CQC said it was misjudgement that the concerns had not been investigated.…

The name of the equipment used for this experiment is TecQuipment Reynolds Number and Transitional Flow Apparatus, H215/215A TecQuiment Hydraulic Bench, H1. This equipment is used to see the pattern of the water flow rate. This equipment can help us to find pattern of flow rate and also can help us to calculate the flow rate of the water. It is important to study how to use the Reynolds number to calculate the flow pattern and also the Reynolds numbers can be used to calculate other properties such as density, velocity, diameter and viscosity. We must understand that Reynolds number is a ratio of inertia to viscous effect of a flow. The experiment was conducted in UNITEN lab with my lab mates and was supervised by my lab instructor Mr. Ibrahim. The procedure and rules which has been taught by Mr. Ibrahim were strictly followed. We handle the equipment with care to avoid any damage. Before opening the pipe flow we checked all the safety precaution and the experiment is done one by one by my group members and me.…
