Could Marlize Be Having Second Thoughts?

Boy, oh boy! What did you all think of the most recent episode of The Flash? Who would have thought our favourite stretchy superhero, Ralphie (Hartley Sawyer)’s new superpower would be shapeshifting? What I loved the most about this episode was the priceless look on Marlize DeVoe (Kim Engelbrecht)’s face when Ralph rolls through the courtroom doors as her meant-to-be dead husband, Clifford (Neil Sandilands). I honestly thought she was going to break down and say that it wasn’t him.
Anyway, on to the purpose of this article. Throughout the episode, which is named rightly after the Cyndi Lauper song ‘True Colors’, we see a side of Marlize that we …show more content…
Seeing this same look on Marlize is a massive step up to what she explicitly said to Barry earlier in the Season about forever being her husband’s partner in crime. As a fan base, we shouldn’t think that Marlize is forgiven for everything she’s done. After all, she rubbed the fact that Barry was on trial for her husband’s ‘murder’ in Iris’s face and she showed no remorse for framing Barry when Iris confronted her. Though, seeing what Clifford is capable of after what he did to the escaped inmates and Wolfe, Marlize might reconsider whether Clifford’s plan is worth it.
Will Marlize Make The Transition From Villainous Sidekick To Reluctant Hero?
In all honesty? Maybe. With DeVoe more powerful and on the hunt for the bus metas, Marlize could come to realise, that his cause and thirst for knowledge and power just isn’t worth it. Judging by what we saw during ‘True Colors’, it’s suddenly gotten tense between Marlize and Clifford - especially since his consciousness is in another man’s body.
During earlier episodes in Season 4, we see that during the early days of her relationship with Clifford, Marlize was a much happier person who saw the world differently to the way she sees it …show more content…
God, I can just see Harry (Tom Cavanagh) and Cisco (Carlos Valdes)’s faces now. Though, here’s a theory. What if Marlize is the one who created a secondary Cerebral Inhibitor, which could be based off the one Cisco created to block Barry’s memories from Savitar (Grant Gustin), only for it to backfire?
Remember back in Season 3 when Savitar mentioned the Cerebral Inhabitor was the key to bringing down DeVoe? Since there wasn’t any mention to Marlize, she could be the one obstacle Clifford wasn’t counting on.
Fan Theory Time! If Marlize Were To Assist In Bringing Down Clifford, How Could She Go About Doing It?
Now, this theory might be far fetched, but it could be a possibility. While there are plenty of different scenarios that could play out, let’s just stick to what we know. After this, we will look at other possible theories.
Firstly, let’s go back to the courtroom for Barry’s appeal. When we see Marlize, there is one expression on her face and that is, she simply doesn’t want to be there. She thinks Cecille’s attempt of getting Barry acquitted of murder will be futile. She wants the judge to decline Cecille and Iris’s attempt to get their beloved son-in-law and husband free.
