He was aware of what’s going on in their place, and has to be brave in order to accept the idea of war and death. Such experience has molded him into a tough child. As a kid, it would have felt horrible to kill a kitten, but he was brave enough to do it. He had set his mind to let go of the fears for he was expected to act like an adult. “I didn’t question my father when he told me to step on the kitten’s head”().
Running away from home is a cowardly act, but to confront cowardliness is a product of courage. Simba decided to abandon the Pride Lands due to shame and repentance by the belief that he was responsible for his father’s death. In the beginning, Simba can be seen as a reckless and brave kid. He trespassed the hyena’s territories just to explore the elephant graveyard. His courage was supported by the idea that they owned the kingdom and his father was there to protect him. Thus, the death of his father also meant the loss of his source of courage. He was forced to find his own refuge, in the hands of a meerkat and warthog. There, he was able to exercise his own courage, adjusting to a new environment and trying to live despite the tragedy he faced as a kid. However, the fear of the past did not
