Why I deserve to be considered for the South Central Border All-Academics Scholarship is an easy answer, because I plan on continuing to play sports in college including dance and maybe throwing the javelin. Most students would give a heart wrenching explanation, but I go on facts. Fact one; I will be continuing to participate in dance at college. Fact two; academics do not come easy to me and so I have to work extremely hard at it. Fact three; I will work extremely hard to make the school record in javelin by throwing 109 feet. Fact four; I will be a part of dance team in college to help pay for books and tuition in college because I can not afford college otherwise. I go on facts and do not believe in lying so I will tell you that dance and…
I want to do the things I love and this scholarship will help me do that. I could make my food as great as Rachel Ray. With this scholarship I will be able to start my own bakery and share my creations with people. Seeing a smile on my mom’s face when she tries anything I make is one of the warmest feelings in the world. I love seeing people enjoying my food, so I want to see more people enjoy it in my own bakery.…
In order to so, I must persevere to be one of the best in my future class and job. A long term goal for me is to create a non-profit organization that helps those who need it the most. It could support higher education, help prevent domestic violence, animal abuse, or even help fund research for cancer. The possibilities are endless if I thrive in my education and apply what I've learned to the real world. After all, the importance of earning a college education is also to help others achieve their dreams and overcome their obstacles. If I am elected to receive this scholarship you would be giving me an opportunity to learn at one of the business schools in Texas. I can assure you that I would find a way to give back to my community like the way you help students like…
I believe I should be awarded this scholarship because I have a strive to learn and push myself. Being dyslexic and suffering from Reflex Neurovascular Dystrophy school is a challenge. I was in a serious car accident in April of 2016, my doctor told me I did not have to attend school the rest of the year. I convince my parents and doctor to come to an agreement so I could attend for two hours a day. I missed one full nine weeks of my education that I can never make up. I had to pass up a great summer job opportunity to help me pay for my college education. This scholarship would take a lot of stress off of me and I would feel like I accomplished something this summer with a severe concussion.…
Whether or not I receive this scholarship I plan to promote the Benjamin Gilman Scholarship. I am apart of the TRIO program at NC State. These programs focus on academic, personal and career support for under-resourced undergraduate students. Nationally, TRIO SSS Programs provide opportunities for academic development, assist students in meeting college requirements, and motivate students toward successful completion of their college degree. My physical project will consist of me holding study abroad informational sessions with the students of TRIO at NC State. It is of the utmost importance that I pair up with this program because I will have counselors to help me make the webinars, schedule meetings, and design pamphlets/website. TRIO…
The impact of being awarded this scholarship would forever change my life. It would be a significant boost of confidence from others and for myself. I would also be afforded the opportunity and privilege to finally begin my chosen career. There are no limits to the possibilities of this scholarship and the ways it will affect my…
Racism and segregation have been and always will be alive in some forms in the United Sates and around the world. Racism and segregation are terrible by themselves, but seeing how people deal with them can make matters worse. Some of the best examples of the ways people dealt with these issues were shown in the poems “I, Too” and “White Lies”. In the poem “I, Too” by Langston Hughes, Hughes describes an African American’s willingness and courage to fight, when experiencing racism and segregation. But in the poem “White Lies” by Natasha Trethewey, Trethewey represents the lengths to which an African American would go in order to avoid standing up for herself or her race.…
Hello friends. I deserve this scholarship because I own the paramount educational values that will guide me throughout my educational journey. I have a clear idea in mind of what I aspire to do with my life, and that makes everything much easier for me. Confidence is the best word to describe myself during this time of life. I go to a great school that I love, have amazing friends, and have been raised with parents who I want to make very proud. My academic goals include maintaining a 3.0 GPA for the rest of the three years I'm in school and earning an Exercise Science degree. From there, I plan to eagerly apply for jobs as I am tremendously excited about this degree and what it pertains. I am pursuing my passion, and that is what it is all about.…
There is many challenges or obstacles in life. They are placed there by god to create the person you are today. This is my life story of how I overcame some challenges and obstacles in order to become a better person. An old abandon trailer laid at the end of a dark and dirty ally. Aluminum sheets with baseball size holes covering the small collapsing home as if it was a blanket. One room, a kitchen and toilet were the only things standing inside the small trailer. The bedroom only had one bed in it, the kitchen stove didn’t work and a toilet that would never flush. I know, it’s not much but it was indeed my home.…
I should receive this scholarship because, one I have been growing all my life but, two because in the past seven to eight years of my life I have been growing by far the most. I would define it as when a tree has a really nutritional year the rings inside the tree become thicker than others. The past seven to eight years have been difficult but now I see how all the stress, tears and questioning was worth it. My mom passed when I was ten-years-old, while that was heart aching enough, my aunt later took me and my sisters in, I was not able to foresee what was up upon us. My mom had left me and my sisters some funds for schooling and living but my grandmother, my mothers, mother hid it from us. My aunt perused the case in court but we could…

I deserve to win this scholarship for many reasons. I have worked hard most of my life, academically . I have always dreamed of building and designing houses since I was 9 years old. I always told my mom that I was destined to build homes for people. I asked my mom one day what exactly is the name of what I want to be and she said to me that finding out the name of what it was I wanted to be myself would have more importance than her telling me. That's when I tought myself how to use a computer and I found two results: Architecture and Interior Design.…
I believe that everyone has problems or challenges to overcome everyday. Even people who think that they are perfect have problems or challenges to overcome everyday. I always have to overcome challenges or problems. No one in this world will not have any challenges or problems. They will have some type of challenge or problem. I believe anyone will be able to overcome those problems. People will always have issues when coming to problems or challenges. Sometime when I have problems in my daily life, I think of them as challenges to overcome. When you overcome those challenges, I know that you will feel good about it. I believe that no one should challenge a problem in their daily life. Because you get problems and adversity anyway, no matter what, why not at least make use of them? Thinking of those obstacles as challenges is a giant step in the direction of making hardship or difficulty has meaning. Best decision I ever made was to strive to do this. Don’t get me wrong. I still have my moments where I fail miserably and then gripe and moan for unknown amounts of time as I have a pity party. However when I’m done feeling sorry for myself I remember my goal to do this and suddenly there is a surge of strength that comes up that I didn’t know I had….and I can carry on. So I wish you the best as you strive for this goal!!! I believe that anyone will be able to overcome challenges and problems everyday. I believe that problems are challenges to overcome in your daily life. Believe in yourself and believe in your problems and challenges to overcome everyday. My own problems or challenges that I had to overcome: One day in Computer Science class, we were starting another lab for the six weeks. My teacher Mrs. Glennon taught the lesson needed for this lab last class and I did not understand it very well. There were many lessons to teach you to know the materials, but something was missing and I could not understand it. On that day, I was unable to complete any parts of…
My desire to excel in academics dates back to middle school when I received my very first letter grade, an A. Since that very special and wonderful moment, I have and will continue to work as hard as I have to in order to be successful in my academic career. I have many educational goals, for education is one of my top priorities. I plan on receiving a double major in Finance and Marketing with a minor in Mathematics, while maintaining a high grade point average. Currently, I maintain a 4.0 GPA, and I take enormous pride in that. Also, after completion of my current studies, I plan on entering graduate school to acquire my MBA. Hopefully, this will allow me to obtain a management position within a highly respected business, which has always been an ambition of mine. My personal philosophy in life is that none of my hopes, dreams or wishes will happen until I make them happen. The greatest mistake anybody can make in life is to continually fear that they will make one. This is why I try to live life to the fullest, take nothing for granted and to always go after what I want because nothing is ever just handed to you. I am applying for a General Scholarship because with college being so expensive, it would allow me to reduce the number of hours that I work, which would then allow me more time to concentrate on my studies. I believe that I am excellent candidate as you can see from my academic achievement and all the activities I am involved in. If I were to receive a General Scholarship, it would be a constant encouragement and reminder that I am capable of greatness and receiving a General Scholarship, will put me one step closer to achieving my…
Given the opportunity to receive a scholarship it will not only help minimize a great deal of the financial hardship that I am currently enduring as a student, but also will assist me in obtaining excellent proficiency in a church setting and the market place. Furthermore, this education will assist me in growing fundamentally as a gospel artist by obtaining the tools and a further understanding of God’s word through my studies at Beulah Heights University. I will be able to excel my inherent talents for speaking and ministering, all while gaining new skills as well. I sincerely appreciate the Committee’s time and efforts in advance by allowing me the opportunity to be the best that I can be and perhaps be able to pass the knowledge and skills gained to others in the future…
