799-3500 #3958 Portable 808 mab572@interact.ccsd.net Course Scope: This one-year course is designed to continue the development of proficiency in the four skills introduced in Spanish I: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The focus is communication in Spanish, incorporating further understanding of Hispanic cultures, connecting with other disciplines, comparing native language to Spanish, and participating in multicultural communities. Knowledge of basic structures and vocabulary will be reviewed and expanded to allow the student to communicate at the intermediate level in real life situations. The pre-requisite for this course is the successful completion of Spanish I. This course will fulfill either one Arts/Humanities credit or one of the elective credits required for high school graduation.
Course Goals:
1. To expand the ability to converse in Spanish using accurate pronunciation. 2. To increase oral and written comprehension in Spanish. 3. To present information and ideas to an audience in Spanish. 4. To explain the relationships among the practices, products, and perspectives of the diverse Hispanic cultures. 5. To further connect knowledge of Spanish with other disciplines. 6. To explain the distinctive viewpoints of other cultures. 7. To continue the comparisons of the Spanish and native languages. 8. To contrast Hispanic cultures with individual ethnic backgrounds. 9. To extend the use of the Spanish language both within and beyond the school setting. 10. To value the study of the Spanish language for personal enrichment.
