COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING
EXPERIMENT # 1
DC GENERATOR
SUBMITTED TO:
ENGR. JERMHEL M. SOLIS
EE PROFESSOR/ADVISER
SUMITTED BY:
MARY ANN L. PACIA
BSEE IV-1
JULY 2013
Objectives:
(1) To apply the principles learned from previous classes; (2) To familiarize on how the generator and motor works; (3) To identify the relationship of voltage, load and speed to each other.
Materials/Equipments:
Power supply 8 50W bulb Connecting wires Digital multimeter D.C. Motor D.C. Generator Tachometer Receptacle board
Schematic Diagram:
Procedure:
1. Construct the circuit based on the given schematic diagram. Find first the common terminals to be used. Make sure that the professor had checked the connections before supplying voltage. 2. Drive the power supply until 200V is to be supply. 3. Start measuring the voltage and speed at no load. Tabulate your data. 4. Repeat Step 4. This time the load is 50W until you have reached 400W. Then, tabulate your data. Construct a graph of it, and a graph of power versus speed. 5. Now, measure the voltage and speed from 8 50W load until there is no load. Tabulate your data. Construct a graph of it, and a graph of power versus speed. 6. Make your observation and conclusion. Tables and Graphs:
No load to full load Load | Power (W) | Speed (rpm) | Voltage (V) | no bulb | 0 | 1361 | 186.1 | 1 bulb | 50 | 1346 | 180.9 | 2 bulbs | 100 | 1329 | 176.6 | 3 bulbs | 150 | 1311 | 172 | 4 bulbs | 200 | 1293 | 168 | 5 bulbs | 250 | 1276 | 163.7 | 6 bulbs | 300 | 1261 | 159.6 | 7 bulbs | 350 | 1245 | 155.5 | 8 bulbs | 400 | 1230 | 151.4 |
