Before I proceed to my next point, let me explain the meaning of courtesy. According to the Oxford dictionary, courtesy means polite behaviour and shows respect for other people. You don’t need to show your respect by giving gifts or telling them right when they are not. Respect through words is enough. There is courtesy between young and old, courtesy among friends, courtesy between males and females, courtesy with respect to different religion, courtesy at an international level and many more.
There are a myriad of benefits that you’ll gain by displaying good behaviour. First and foremost, courtesy begets courtesy, it means that if you are polite to others, the others will do the same thing to you. This is because what goes around comes around. Saying thank you to a good deed will brighten up your day.
Other than that, you will eventually gain more and more friends. Touching the above point, friendship is an added benefit of being courteous to others. Everyone will count on you! Nobody wants to be friends with a rude person. Neither you nor me. If you are facing problems, others will lend you a helping hand. They will be with you through thick and thin. Thus, if you feel like you are lacking politeness, don’t get angry if your friend backfires on you.
Besides that, others will want to see you succeed. Increasing your friendships and acquiantences will mean increasing the number of people in support of you. As often said by others, connections can make the difference
