Cozumel is a city of festivals, the most well-known is The Festival of El Cedral. This 150 year old festival takes place at the end of April, in honor of the religious power of the cross. Today, the original festival includes fairs, feasts, rodeos, bullfights, music and competitions and lasts all week long. Another famous festival is the Cozumel Carnival. It has been celebrated for over two centuries and takes place the week before mardi-gras. Cozumel is most famous for it’s wonderful sights. Tourists come from everywhere to see the mayan ruins. The largest of them is San Gervasio, a site dedicated to the goddess of weaving. Many artifacts and temples are hidden in the jungles of Cozumel. But even more famous is cozumel’s natural beauty. The coral reefs and underwater world of Cozumel is a major sightseeing attraction. The spectacular reefs draw in thousands of tourists year round. The food in Cozumel, unsurprisingly is mainly composed of sea food. Chefs draw on the bounty of the sea to make cozumel famous for it’s grilled fish and ceviche. Of course, some of the dishes found on Cozumel's menus are well-known Mexican classics like chiles rellenos, tamales, guacamole and enchiladas, but thanks to Cozumel’s Caribbean influences, much of their food is more exotic. This city was invaded many times, by the u.s military, the british navy, and the French navy as well. This city has survived many raids and bombings, but they have built themselves back up. They were attacked with rifles, cannons, and was the first city to be targeted by aerial bombing. Mazatlan culture is based mainly on fun, with festivals that last weeks and a roaring nightlife. Their most famous festival is the 117 year old international carnival of Mazatlan. Other important festivals are the Mazatlan Cultural festival and the Festival of Dance held annually. This wild city also has a event called international motorcycle week, which attracts thousands of tourists annually. Mazatlan’s oldest tourist sight is it’s lighthouse. This landmark was the tallest structure in the world and so bright that it was was often mistaken for a star. The Mazatlan boardwalk, another tourist attraction, is 4 miles long and is famous for it’s many gorgeous and unusual statues. Arguably, the biggest tourist attraction is the Basilica of the Immaculate
