Their gray and black coat is their camouflage in the wild. Their fur also helps them by staying warm in the winter and it also helps by making them look larger in a fight. The long digits help them get their food, shelter, and defense. Having these things in the wild will help them survive better in their environment.

The crab-eating raccoon also can appear to be more adapted to climbing in and out of trees than common raccoon, with sharper, narrower claws. They are also better suited for a diet of hard-shelled foods, with most of the cheek teeth being larger than those of the common raccoon, with broader, rounded cusps. Crab-eating raccoons can appear smaller and more streamlined than the common raccoon due to its shorter fur and more slinder build. One hypothesis for the dark fur is that it may help reduce glare and enhance the night time vision. The species has grayish brown fur that helps them stay warm in cooler environments. The five toes on a raccoon’s front paws are extremely skilled, functioning like five little fingers which allow it to grab and handle food it finds in the wild as well as a variety of other objects including locks, jars, and remotes. The uncommon things are the fur, height, weight, length, and size. Many raccoon species like mine have many different dimensions, and sizes. “Even though I asked to be transferred here for the master’s program, coming here was a shock,” Michael Morton wrote on January 22, 2002, from his cell in the Ramsey I prison unit, south of Houston. He was replying to a letter he had recently received from Mario Garcia, a former co-worker at the Safeway in Austin where he had worked before being sent to prison fifteen years earlier. Besides his parents and his younger sister—who made the five-hundred-mile round-trip from East Texas to visit when they could—Garcia was the only person from Michael’s previous life who had stayed in contact with him. Virtually everyone else believed that he was guilty. Throughout the fall and winter of 1986, his case had been splashed across the front pages of…

Mellita quinquiesperforata, commonly known as the sand dollar, is a familiar urchin on Florida coastlines. The species is flat and disk shaped that nestles into shallow sandy waters to protect itself from waves and predators. Dissodactylus mellitae is a parasitic crab that feeds on the spines of the hosting sand dollar where it remains its entire life. This study was arranged to observe the distribution patterns of crabs on various sizes of sand dollars. We hypothesized that the larger sand dollars would host more crabs because of the extended surface area available. We also predicted that the presence of adult sized crabs would limit the number of total crabs on the hosting sand dollar because of the larger size and resource demand leading to intraspecific competition among the crabs. Intraspecific competition occurs when members of the same species compete over limited resources considered vital for survival. These resources can be food, space, light, mates, anything necessary for the survival and reproduction of the individual. In our study the factors of interest are space and food.…

Overall, Smilodon was more robustly built than any extant cat, with particularly well-developed forelimbs and exceptionally long upper canines. Its jaw had a bigger gape than that of modern cats and its upper canines were slender and fragile, being adapted for precision killing. S. gracilis was the smallest species at 55 to 100 kg (120 to 220 lb) in weight. S. fatalis had a weight of 160 to 280 kg (350 to 620 lb) and height of 100 cm (39 in). Both of these species are mainly known from North America, but remains from South America have also been attributed to them. S. populator from South America is perhaps the largest known felid at 220 to 400 kg (490 to 880 lb) in weight and 120 cm (47 in) in height. The coat pattern of Smilodon is unknown, but it has been artistically restored with plain or spotted patterns.…

Crab monkeys although they are the most common animal for lab research, tend to be aggressive. In the wild "the crab eating monkeys live in multi-male groups that include about thrity monkeys. The capybara is the largest rodent in the world. The capybara's name comes from the native people of South America. It means "master of the grass." The scientific name of the capybara is hydrochoerus hydrochaeris, which means "water pig" in Greek. Capybaras have been in existence since the Pleistocene epoch. Their ancient ancestors were rodents that lived about sixty million years ago. The average size of a capybara is four feet in length and two feet in height. This is about the size of a sheep. Capybaras usually weigh between sixty and one hundred and forty pounds. Many people think the capybara looks like a larger version of a guinea pig. Capybaras also have large incisor teeth that continuously grow. Capybaras must constantly gnaw and chew on wood and nuts to wear their teeth down. Blue Crabs grow by the process of molting in which they shed or take off their outer hard shell and the soft shell under it eventually becomes another hard shell to help protect it from dangers which lurk and try to feed off the crabs. The difference between the male and female blue crabs can be told by the abdominals…
