To date, Sheppard Pratt of Ellicott City is in the process of getting a newer building. However, the process has been delayed several times for budget reasons. The building being finished is in the five year plan for Sheppard Pratt. The ground has been broken for the new building but production is moving slow. The current facility for Sheppard Pratt of Ellicott City is the old Taylor Manor hospital as is significantly out of date. With a new facility, services will be served in a more comfortable manner. I see sometimes the frustration of the staff on the unit who has to wait to meet with clients until space becomes available to do so. I have sat in on treatment team meetings where the room was smaller than a client’s room but had to fit the…

What philosophical approach do you believe Captain Strong should take in carrying out this project? The Equity theory explains what is going on within Captain Strong’s station. Within the equity theory, there is no way of saying how or who person decide to compare themselves to, or how they place value on inputs and outcomes (More, Vito, & Walsh, 2012). Since the equity theory has shown that performance and motivation do become a factors within some stations, and this particular station is having problems in the patrol department not seeing their areas of work fair compared to other departments that are allowed to have lunches together, have lighter workloads and working together. Since there have been low morale and citizen-initiated complaints the matter needs to be handled quiet quickly.…

The petitioner filed for habeas corpus relief in the federal courts. The question was whether Sheppard was deprived of a fair trail and his right to due process according to the Sixth Amendment. Was the petitioner denied a fair trail for the second-degree murder of his wife, of which he was convicted, because of the trail judge’s failure to protect Sheppard sufficiently from the massive, pervasive, and prejudicial publicity that attended his prosecution?…
On April 19, 1989 a white female jogger was attacked and raped in Center Park, NY. The jogger was twenty-eight-year-old investment banker, Trisha Meili. Five years prior to the Central Park Five another individual by the name of Ronald Cotton was wrongful convicted of the rape of twenty-two year-old college senior Jennifer Thompson Cannino. Ronald Cotton spent over ten years in prison before DNA evidence pardoned him of any and all wrong doing. Ronald was thirty-two upon his release. Were these wrongful conviction of these individuals…
In 1972 cruise industry pioneer, Ted Arison and the owner of American International Trade Service (AITS), Meshulam Riklis, formed Carnival Cruise Lines as a subsidiary of AITS. In order to determine the quantity of each product that should be purchased at the outset so as to fill half of the total forecasted volume (10,000 units), we need to calculate the purchase price per product (something that isn’t provided in the case) and also the salvage price per product. Let’s start with the cost information of the Rococo Parka. The cost to produce one piece in Hong Kong is $60.08 while the cost in China is $51.92. On the lines of Wally’s plan, let’s assume that half the orders will be fulfilled from Hong Kong and the rest from China. This places the average cost at $56. The total retail price of 112.5$ should equal the sum of cost ($56), profit ($27 as mentioned in the case) and operating expenses (expenses to run the company besides the cost of sourced products). This gives us a figure of $29.5 as the average operating cost, which is about 26% of wholesale price. We’ll apply this percentage across the board to arrive at purchase price per product (Exhibit 1). We’ll also arrive at the salvage price as product cost + operating costs – loss ($9 as mentioned in the case). The mean and std. deviation figures have been provided and it this point, arriving at production quantity per product is a trivial exercise (see results in Exhibit 2), using the template provided in class. Note that increments of 100 have been used.…
