One of my adult children was always coming up short for one thing or another, and would invariably ask “Mom can I borrow some money until next pay day?” The third time this occurred I agreed to loan the funds on the condition that she sit down with me and create a budget, and further, that she save the receipts for all of her expenditures for one month.
