Creationism is the theory that there is a higher power or a higher being that created everything that is in existence. …show more content…
In evolutionism all life is believed to have come from a single-celled life form that underwent genetic mutation and natural selection to create all the multiple life forms that now exists. These changes in all life forms took place within the single celled organism but the change was gradual and it happened over large amounts of time. One of the key parts of evolution is that DNA is subject to genetic mutation and if genetic mutation occurs it will affect the offspring whether it is instantaneously or some ways away through various generations. Another key point is the after effects of the genetic mutation whether it will be beneficial or harmful in regards to the offspring’s survival. This is where natural selection takes places creating the saying “survival of the fittest”. Which is where those who are better equipped to certain conditions than others are better suited to survive and pass those genes to their offspring. Last key point is that the mutations that take place occur over excessive amounts of time in turn causing new species to form (Marshall Brain, How Evolution …show more content…
For example, both evolutionism and creationism are theories that have religions that fall in each category but they all contain different beliefs, ideas, and traditions. Evolution and creationism share the idea that we all have a common ancestor. With evolutionism all things came from a universal common ancestor (as first introduced by Charles Darwin) which is a single celled organism that lived 3.5 billion years ago. Common ancestor in evolution is backed up by the multiple independent lines of evidence mainly the fossil remains and the side by side comparison of the genomes of many species (https://biologos.org/questions/what-is-evolution). With creationism the common ancestor that all humans have are Adam and Eve. In creationism people are believed to have come from two people which were Adam and Eve and they had children and their children had children and they separated into different nations on the earth and that is where diversity came. They are also similar in the aspect that they both believe that life came from non-living matter. In evolution, it is believed that life came from a single-celled organism that was created by nonliving matter; the idea as to how this nonliving matter created the single-celled organism is in a separate field of science called abiogenesis. In creationism, it believed that humans were created from the dirt as described
