James Patrick Holding’s article talks about how “demagogues” like Dawkins find it hard to believe that creationists’ views are accepted and the double standard shown by them in accepting a thesis. The author seems to be offended as indicated by how he can mention “a lengthy list of the insulting rhetoric Dawkins has heaped upon the creationists”. Holding questions the credibility of the beliefs supported by Dawkins, who seems to be raising doubts on the view point of the creationists because the view belongs to a minority alone. Holding believes that people like Dawkins rarely put an effort in researching a particular idea, but they add those beliefs in their “agenda” only if it proves to be beneficial for them. The readers get the hint of irony that Holding tries to convey through his article that even though Dawkins supports the ‘Christ myth’ through his actions, he happens to give a statement of how there is a possibility of the existence of Jesus. The mockery in the article is pretty obvious as first Dawkins is said to have worked in a film called “The God Who Wasn’t There” – a film that supports the idea of how Jesus did not even exist at all. The author further mentions how the “Christ Myth” remains unsupported by any of the historians and the “leading proponent of Christ myth over the past century – is not a historian, but a professor of German”. The readers begin to doubt the credibility of Dawkins after reading this article and whether he and his “ideological cohorts” actually care to research a prevalent idea before they declare their endorsement of it. Even though people like Dawkins make sure their beliefs are free from any kind of doubts, most of the readers would definitely become cautious in believing the claims of these people after reading this…
In “One Side Can Be Wrong,” Richard Dawkins and Jerry Coyne argue that teaching creationism along side evolution does not make sense, and that creationism has no business being in the science classes. Richard Dawkins and Jerry Coyne are evolutionary biologists at Oxford University and the University of Chicago. They published this essay in the Guardian in September 2005, seeking to appeal to middle-aged parents. They argue that creationism cannot provide any positive evidence to create a controversy and therefore should not be taught in schools to children and teenagers. On the other hand, there is a substantial amount of evidence for evolution where debate and conversation can arise.…
Although the Darwinian evolution theory came out 150 years ago when it was first introduced in On the Origin of Species in 1859, nowadays there are still many people who firmly believe in the creationism, even some who are well educated. In chapter three of River Out of Eden Richard Dawkins brings out this situation and refutes creationism by citing scientific experiments, and finally he points out that gradualism is a principle of the evolution nature world, one that becomes indispensable when one is trying to explain complex phenomena.…
Jurassic Park, a cult favorite, seems to be a scary work of fiction. What most do not realize is that there are efforts taking place right now to make the processes of reversing extinction a reality. This process, coined as ‘De-Extinction,’ is defined as using intact tissues of extinct animals to clone them and introduce them back into existing ecosystems. These efforts are taking place all over the world: the United States of America, Australia, Poland, and Russia. (Zimmer, 2013) This process includes taking fragmented DNA from preserved specimens, piecing the fragments together, placing the DNA in an emptied egg, and planting the egg in a female of similar lineage to the species being cloned. (Archer, 2013) The first attempt at this process was in 2003 when Spanish scientists attempted to clone the cells of the last Pyrenean ibex, Celia. The…
A good example of this is the big question of how the earth and humans were created. According to Christians, the existence of us today is completely from God’s creation. However, if we discuss this with many scientists, you would altogether get a different viewpoint as they would most likely disagree with the Christian’s belief. This is because they have their own belief that we humans were created through evolution.…
In The Cosmological Argument Premise 2 explains that everything cannot be a dependent living thing. William Rowe explains why the Principle of Sufficient reason is true, then premise 2 is also true. Rowe suggests that there has never been a self-existing living thing, but only an infinite series of dependent living things. In this case, every living thing has an explanation, because it is explained if a living thing that came before it then that caused its existence.…
“There are none who are as deaf as those who do not want to hear,” Barry Leventhal once said this quote (Geisler and Turek). There are so many different creation theories that people have been talking about them for centuries, none have been one hundred percent proven but all are debatable. The problem with most professionals who study creation theories is they are very stubborn. Once somebody has a plausible theory in their head they do not listen to any other theories. This quote by Barry Leventhal perfectly describes this characteristic of the professionals mentioned earlier. They are “deaf” because they refused to hear what others had to say. Many documents were written by these “deaf” professionals about their adopted theory; they…
The Cosmological argument and the Experiential argument, I believe, are the most compelling evidence that God exists. The idea that something that begins must have a beginner or creator. That creator would have to be something that never begins. Saying that something that begins is not created from something is difficult to hold true. It may hold true if all the universe was just physical. Which would indicate that God would have to be physical and thus must have begun. But since God is spiritual then that would not work. The experiential argument is also a compelling argument because it shows people's experiences and the results are better people. Showing the causes is good because the end result is…
According to The Oxford Dictionary, creationism is defined as the belief that the universe and living organisms originate from specific acts of divine creation, as in the biblical account, rather than by natural processes such as evolution. The Oxford Dictionary also defines intelligent design as the theory that life, or the universe, cannot have arisen by chance and was designed and created by some intelligent entity. Tension between scientists and theologians arose in the 18th century, when it became obvious to most researchers that geological processes were exceedingly slow, and must have been accomplished over incredibly long periods of time. These…
To begin in the video “Bill O’Reilly SCARED by Richard Dawkins” you see Bill O’ Reilly and Richard Dawkins going back in forth over the belief and evidence for god to exist. In the video you can see clearly that Richard Dawkins does not believe in a god and also tries to present facts to Bill as to why. Vice-versa you can clearly see that Bill O’ Reilly does belive in god and tries to convince Dawkins that god does exist. Now to go on to the main point, in my opion if W.K Clifford the famous English mathematician and philosopher were there he would not completely side with either on the topic, however I feel that he would most likely leen to the side with Richard Dawkins. Before going further into why, W.K Clifford was a man who was known to go against…
Many scientists and creationist are Bible believing Christian like Isaac Newton, Edward Blyth, Kurt Wise, and Inn Taylor who is the president of creation research Family Radio, Oakland, CA and host of others who believe in a literal Genesis as the word of God which is accurate and without any error, also agreed with Genesis that God created the heaven and the earth in 6 days, 24 hours and no other wise like millions or billions as evolutionist perceived. The Bible is the truth word of God. “Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.” 2 The web site www.answersingenesis.org explained many questions and misconception that one may have about Genesis…
If you look at the world around us there is great evidence for an intelligent Designer. The evidence is overwhelming as we regard the world that God has created and how fine-tuned it is. For example, our bodies have been intricately designed to show that it was not an accident that we exist, but there’s evidence for a Creator. Not only are we able to look around with our eyes, but we are also able to study the fundamental constants and quantities and see how fine-tuned this universe is. Scientists conclude that the fundamental constants and quantities of the universe have been carefully dialed to an astonishingly precise value. It is so precise that it falls narrowly into a life-permitting range, showing that even if one of the numbers were…
There are many different creation myths from different religions and different cultures. Two of the many creation myths are the creation myth of Genesis and the creation myth of India. Although these are both creation myths there are still some similarities and some differences between the two. The similarities between the Genesis and India creation myths are that both of the creators are benign and both of the Gods are supreme while the differences between them are that the reasons why man was created were different and the creations are accomplished in different ways.…
Nonbelievers may have a right to be cynical if they visualize the wrong thing, and do not put the action into their vision. Simply picturing yourself winning a deal won’t guarantee it (Vanderkam, 2015). Focus your vision on what you can control. You have to believe in the Universal Power and understand the science of how the brain works. As an indivisible, you remain part of the great Universal Power! Does this mean that your thoughts can come true? Yes! Not all of them, only those that are focused, well-defined, and repeated often. When we visualize “It allows us to simulate reality at will, and, because of this, allows us to predict what we would experience in a specific situation or after we perform a specific action. This ability not only…
Have you ever thought about the things we teach at our public schools? How everything that is said to a student has an effect on the way they think or understand things. How are we sure that we teach them everything they need to know? And who decides the purpose or requirement of each class given? Education is to enlighten the young and naive to better their purpose in our society; and by teaching them both Evolution and Intelligent Design it give them more knowledge and a different way to look and examine things.…
