Creative Essay on Christopher Columbus
Christopher Columbus was born in Genoa, Italy in 1451. Ever since Columbus was a little boy he loved the sea. Christopher Columbus became a sailor at the age of 15 years old. After many years or experience with the sea and with a captain with him he became an excellent sea captain. Over the years Columbus collected all sorts of maps that showed that the earth was round some maps even showed that it was possible to sail west end up east. One of Columbus’s maps showed that Japan was across the Atlantic Ocean, About 2,700 miles away but Columbus’s maps were wrong. Japan was actually 12,200 miles away about 10,000 more miles than Columbus thought. Columbus confident then ever went to King Henry of Portugal and asked if he can have ships and lots of sailors to discover the passage to china and Japan. Soon Columbus got feed back from King Henry said no but Columbus did not give up. Columbus went to Spain and asked Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand for ships and sailors. Columbus came in the worst time to ask of Queen Isabella for supplies because there was a war in Spain. So the Queen Told COLUMBUS WAIT TILL THE WAR WAS OVER COLUMBUS HAD waited patiently for Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand answer years passed but at last the war was over.
