1.0 Executive Summary
An innovative player in the electronics industry, Creative technology Ltd. has successfully captured a part of the market share by establishing its presence worldwide, and recently on the internet with its online store and initial venture into social media. Since its inception, it has sustained its operations and had proven itself to be a strong player in the industry. However, in recent years, it has started to falter slightly, with the most recent net losses for three consecutive financial years. This rough patch coincides with the rise of various electronics giants such as Apple Inc. and the emergence and prevalence of social media. In our report, we will be looking at the success story behind Creative and how it should rise to the challenge of today’s internet- and social media-driven world by appropriately incorporating social media into its business and revenue models.
In the first part of the report, analysis will be done on the business and revenue models of Creative. We will look at how Creative tap on Research and Development and marketing strategies to generate sales, and the nature of both physical retail and e-commerce to provide value to its targeted customers.
Next, we will introduce Creative’s existing use of social media. This will be followed by our own proposal on the specific measures that Creative should incorporate, on each of the four major social media platforms today: Facebook, Twitter, blogs and YouTube. Social media has the potential to be a powerful tool for advertising to and interaction with customers, hence it is
